Interactive Navigation

The ArcGlobe application in ArcGIS 3D Analyst is designed to integrate extremely large amounts of GIS data and allow fast navigation of this data. ArcGlobe uses innovative technology to provide seamless navigation of three-dimensional data with little or no preprocessing. Any GIS data can be directly added to ArcGlobe and immediately become usable. As you visit various areas of your data, any place you have previously visited can be revisited with no redrawing overhead.

ArcGlobe supports both vector and raster data. Vector data can be draped on the underlying surface or as true three-dimensional vectors such as buildings or pipes. All ArcGIS software-supported raster formats can be used directly as a base surface, a layer draped over a surface, or an independent surface such as a contamination plume.

ArcGIS 3D Analyst provides additional, easy-to-use navigation tools that allow you to control the height and direction of a view so that you can control where you are looking (the target) in relation to your position (the observer). Other easy-to-use interactive tools allow the user to
