Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008ArcGIS 9.3 will support the two new spatial types in Microsoft SQL Server 2008. A geodatabase implemented on SQL Server 2008 will be able to store vector geometry in either spatial type (Geography or Geometry). This will enable users to perform SQL queries and operations on spatial data within SQL Server. ![]() DemoESRI was the only business partner to demonstrate integration with SQL Server 2008 on stage with Microsoft presenters. View the demo. This development is a result of a close, multiyear collaboration with Microsoft in the development of SQL spatial extensions to SQL Server 2008. Plans for ArcGIS 9.3Since ArcGIS 9.3 and SQL Server 2008 are on parallel development paths, the situation is currently a bit fluid. Our plans are detailed below but are subject to change depending on technology constraints. Support for SQL Server 2008 at the Initial Release of ArcGIS 9.3 ArcGIS Server 9.3 Enterprise (Basic, Standard, and Advanced editions) will support SQL Server 2008 beta. We will not certify support for SQL Server 2008 beta. Once we have SQL Server 2008 final, we will certify it. If any issues arise between beta and final, we will resolve them in a service pack. Support for SQL Server 2008 at Future ArcGIS 9.3 Service Packs ArcGIS Server 9.3 Enterprise (Basic, Standard, and Advanced editions) will support SQL Server 2008 final. More Information
