User Ratings and Comments

Registered users can now provide feedback on the quality and usefulness of a resource by adding ratings and comments. These ratings and comments will showcase the value of your resources. Your geoportal much more active and alive by nurturing the growth of an active and interactive user community.

Improved ArcGIS for Server Clip and Ship Tool

ArcGIS for Server 10 includes an improved clip and ship geoprocessing tool. The Geoportal extension allows you to take advantage of this new tool when customizing data downloads.

Server-side Resource Synchronization

The Harvesting Tool and Harvesting Service from earlier versions of the Geoportal extension have been replaced with server-side synchronization. When a resource is registered with the geoportal, the geoportal will regularly, frequently, and automatically check the resource for changes and update the geoportal catalog.

In this new era of cloud computing, virtual communities, and crowdsourcing, GIS architectures need the flexibility to be more open, interoperable, and interconnected.

Extended OGC CS-W Support

Support for the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has been extended with the ISO Application profile and INSPIRE Discovery service.
