What's New in GIS Portal Toolkit 3.1

Based on requests from the user community, numerous new capabilities have been added in version 3.1 of GIS Portal Toolkit.

• Internationalization (i18n) and Localization (l10n) is complete for multi-byte character languages
• Support for ISO 19139 (creating, editing, publishing & harvesting)
• Support for ArcGIS Explorer via "Add to Globe" button in search results
• Online form for creating metadata for ArcGIS Server services
• "Forgot Password" functionality
• Support for OpenLS Address searching in Find Place dialog
• Advanced Search: Filter by publisher as an additional search criteria
• Improved channel page performance

• Improved channel management and steward registration
• Improved batch upload

In the MapViewer

• Support for OpenLS Address searching in Find Place dialog (since it comes from Portal module)
• Support for WMS 1.3.0
• Ability to specify individual layers to display when connecting to a WMS, WFS, or WCS map server
• WMS support of default projections other than WGS 1984 (ID=4326)
• Link to the GetCapabilities document for WMS, WFS, WCS services from the Table of Contents
• Single sign-on to MapViewer from the Portal module
• MapViewer respects initial extent as defined in ArcIMS AXL file instead of starting at full-extent

In the Harvesting Tool

• CSW Interoperability
• Proxy detection
• Harvesting status is shown at the bottom of the harvesting tool
• Harvesting of ISO 19139 metadata
• Improved logging

In the Channel Editor

• Improved preview capabilities that use the installed Portal stylesheets
• International character support

In the Portal Toolbar

• Search all metadata - no longer restricted to just Live Data & Maps
• View metadata options - Ability to view metadata as raw XML or formatted XML (using stylesheet)
• Ability to "Save" favorite CSW URLs you search in a drop-down list.

Other

• Downloadable ArcGIS Explorer Search task to let you search a portal (to follow soon!)
• Improved and updated online help content; user guide now available on support.esri.com
• Channel Steward documentation updated for GPT 3.1
