Portal for ArcGIS

What Do You Get with Portal for ArcGIS?

Integrated Website

Organizations can customize the website that serves as the access point for Portal for ArcGIS content and capabilities, and set up their own featured maps and app section, galleries, and more. For an example, see ArcGIS.com, ArcGIS Online's public-facing website.

Integrated Map Viewers and Map-making Tools

Integrated map viewers (JavaScript and Silverlight-based) let users make new web maps and work with existing maps that have been shared and cataloged in the system. Saved web maps authored with one of the map viewers can be shared by emailing the map URL, or embedding them into blogs, web pages, or web applications.

Integrated APIs and Developer Tools

Configurable application templates are included so users can easily create and publish their own web applications without writing any code. Developers can download and extend these templates, as well as use the JavaScript, Flex, and Silverlight APIs to build and deploy custom applications.

Sharing Services

Software that manages items, services, web maps, groups and other functionality needed to support sharing and collaboration. In the near future, Esri will publish a RESTful API that will allow developers to upload and download data, embed web maps into other apps, and more.

Identity Store

Provides out-of-the box authentication and security. Portal for ArcGIS can also be integrated with existing identity stores.

Administrative Tools

Provides tools for system administrators to manage Portal for ArcGIS users, groups, and content.

Support

Portal for ArcGIS includes standard technical support. Users can also access the integrated Help system through the organization's Portal for ArcGIS website and the ArcGIS Online user forum and blog.
