Is ArcGIS Runtime part of the Esri Developer Network (EDN)?
Yes, all EDN subscribers have access to the ArcGIS Runtime SDKs for WPF and Java.
What programming languages are supported for ArcGIS Runtime?
For Windows desktop development, Esri provides SDKs for Microsoft’s .NET Framework WPF (VB.net or C#), and Java SE. On Linux Java SE is supported. There are also Runtime SDKs for iOS, Android and Silverlight for Windows Phone development.
Is Mac OSX supported?
Mac OS is not supported initially, but we are working on Mac OS Lion support for a future release.
Does ArcGIS Runtime support 64-bit support?
Yes, ArcGIS Runtime supports both 32- and 64-bit native code execution on Windows. On Linux desktops ArcGIS Runtime is 64-bit only.
What types of Geodatabases are supported?
ArcGIS Runtime reads and writes file Geodatabases and Workgroup and Enterprise Geodatabases. The editing is limited to attribute and simple feature geometry. ArcGIS Runtime will not support Microsoft Access-based personal Geodatabases.
Can you use ArcObjects code with the new ArcGIS Runtime?
No, ArcGIS Runtime has a new API so existing ArcObjects solutions will need to be re-written.
