Address Coder

Tele Atlas street address range data is the primary reference dataset to obtain latitude and longitude coordinates and geocodes.

Address Coder uses Esri's geocoding technology to append latitude-longitude coordinates, FIPS codes, and demographic data to U.S. address records. To match a maximum number of records, Address Coder employs four tiers of address locators in a cascading fallback concept. The primary locator uses the Tele Atlas Street Address Range database to match records by street address. Remaining record matches are attempted at the ZIP+4, five-digit ZIP Code, and city/state locator levels as shown in the graphic. For more information about your address records, a selection of reports is included.

This includes the Tele Atlas Points dataset to provide possible "rooftop" matching.

Address Coder Premium integrates Esri's geocoding technology with the Tele Atlas Points database, with its 51+ million records, to append FIPS codes, latitude-longitude coordinates, and demographic data to U.S. address records. This database maps street addresses to a physical location so that each address becomes a fixed point and not an interpolation from a range of addresses. To match a maximum number of records, the geocoder uses a five-tiered address locator in a fallback approach. As illustrated, the primary locator first uses the Address Points data; if no match is accomplished, the secondary Street Address Range database is employed. Remaining records fall back to the ZIP+4, five-digit ZIP Code, and city/state locators. To learn more about your address records, a selection of reports is included.

Optional Add-ons

For more precise geocoding and data appending at the block group and ZIP+4 geography levels, two optional add-ons are available: Tapestry and Tapestry ZIP+4. The block group application enables users to perform accurate customer and market area analyses. The ZIP+4 option is tailored for segmenting customers and prospects for direct mail campaigns.
