Geo allows me to predict and prepare mobile workforces for disasters

Leonard Lee, Dispatchr, Co-Founder and COO

What does Dispatchr build?

We are helping companies maximize the efficiency of their mobile workforce using spatial analytics. As you can imagine, in the field, companies need to know where their workers are and what they’re doing, and then optimize where they will go next. We use ArcGIS mapping, routing, and analytics to get the workers to the right place at the right time.

What is your biggest challenge?

One of the biggest issues we try to address is how to take multiple bits of info (weather, infrastructure, vegetation) and do spatial analysis to really understand what the priorities should be for field service workers. For example, utility companies can predict where repair work will need to occur even before a storm hits. They can then send out workers ahead of time to keep the power grid up and running.

What advice can you give to someone looking to add geo to their app?

Once you figure out how you can use geo, it’s incredibly powerful. To put seemingly disparate data in a visual interactive interface makes it extremely actionable. My advice would be to get to know Esri really well. One of the things that has helped us tremendously is talking to the people at Esri. Those relationships help you get your product not only to where it needs to be but possibly beyond what you could have ever imagined on your own.
