What's New in MapObjects—Windows Edition 2.4

MapObjects 2.4 is a maintenance release but also includes a number of new items of functionality:

• Added support for ArcSDE 9.1 as a client—MapObjects now supports ArcSDE 9.1 service pack 1, both as an ArcSDE client and a direct connect client for Oracle 8i/9i and SQL Server databases. Informix and DB2 databases are also supported as 9.1 direct connect clients. Note: Please download the MapObjects 2.4 Service Pack in order to access your ArcSDE 9.2 databases.
• Support for new third generation format Mr SID images—Mr SID generation 3 image files are now supported for display in MapObjects, although password-protected images are not supported.
• Support for JPEG 2000 format images.
• New methods for outputting and exporting—Three new methods are available for outputting and exporting a specific area of the visible extent of the map (existing methods output the entire visible extent of the map). These methods are ExportMap4, ExportToJpeg2, and OutputMap3.
• EnableStreetMap is no longer required.
• Keycodes are no longer required for GIF or TIFF LZW.
• Installations now set SDEHOME variable if Direct Connect is installed.
• Updated World dataset—Properties of Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong have all been updated.
• All documentation provided in soft copy—The "MapObjects Programmers Reference," "Building Applications with MapObjects," and "MapObjects 2.1 Documentation Supplement" books are now available as Portable Document Format (PDF) files.
