Esri software solutions are involved in several worldwide projects ranging from standardizing on a portal for European users to assisting the military with troop movements and large hydrogeology projects. Interoperable Solutions for Multiuser Access to Geospatial Information

Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe (INSPIRE)

• Initiated as a means to develop interoperable architectures and standardized interfaces between geospatial implementations throughout Europe, it provides a means for addressing common environmental concerns.
• Using open IT and geospatial standards, the integration of the existing Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) services—together with the creation of new services—will enable European SDI participants to exchange spatial information as widely as possible.
• Potential users include policy makers, planners, and managers, as well as private organizations and residents from European Union (EU) member states and beyond.

Standards-Based Solution for Real-Time Intelligence

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)

• Core Geographic Services will shape the application of geospatial technology in defense for years to come.
• All NATO staff, from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) to NATO's deployable headquarters (HQ), will have the best available geospatial information at all times.
• Commanders, analysts, and other NATO network users will fuse geospatial content from Core Geographic Services with other forms of information for command and control, intelligence, and logistics applications.
• The Core Geographic Services form a key architectural building block in support of NATO's service-oriented architecture (SOA).

Geospatial Data Resources for Incorporation with Other Systems

Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER)

• GIS users can download Census 2000 TIGER/Line Data in shapefile format for their use. Users can choose multiple data layers for a single county or a single data layer for multiple counties and analyze them using GIS software such as ArcGIS and ArcGIS Explorer.
• The Census 2000 TIGER/Line shapefiles were created from the TIGER database of the United States Census Bureau.
