Collaboration
ESRI's server-based GIS solutions promote information sharing which enhances collaboration between various organizational departments and promotes better decision making. Shared GIS services such as map and globe services, locator services, geoprocessing services, and data management services add enormous value to established business systems (e.g., work order, asset, and customer relationship management systems) and support enterprise-wide initiatives for collaborative computing.
Collaborative decision making efforts offer enhancements to efficiency, increases in cost savings and abilities to understanding and respond to things that have not been possible before. Server GIS enhances collaborations between all geospatial data and application users.

The City of Mesa, Arizona uses server GIS to support gas utility valve maintenance, both in the field and in the office.
