APEC Requirements

1. An APEC must have an ESRI Authorized Instructor on staff or have access to an ESRI Authorized Instructor to teach ESRI-authorized classes.
2. An APEC must offer at least three different ATP courses.
3. An APEC must teach at least eight classes per year.
4. Only ESRI Authorized Instructors may order course materials.

Facility Requirements

The building should offer the following amenities:

1. Adequate public parking within one-quarter of a mile
2. Restroom facilities
3. Public telephone
4. Food facilities within a 10-minute walk

The classroom should satisfy the following requirements:

1. A minimum of 10 computers
2. Accessibility for students to their own computers
3. A positive work environment including proper lighting, windows, and so forth
4. Adequate seating and table space for students
5. Heating and/or air conditioning system
6. Compliance with fire and safety standards of the state

Software Requirements

1. All ESRI APECs must license at least 10 copies of the ESRI software they teach (one copy for each of the minimum 10 classroom computers).
2. APECs must maintain the current version of the software installed and tested on each computer that students will use in class. They must also maintain at least one set of software documentation.

Software System Requirements

1. The facility must maintain classroom hardware needed to support the current release of the ESRI training course. ESRI may require APECs to update their hardware for future versions of the ESRI software.
2. The facility must have Internet access.

Audiovisual Requirements

1. One computer projector capable of displaying at a resolution of at least 1024 x 768
2. One projection surface (screen, white board) at least 4' x 4'
3. Area separate from the projection surface for writing questions, diagrams, and so forth
4. Suitable markers in a variety of colors for drawing on the above
5. Erasers and/or screen cleaner

Authorization versus Certification

ESRI does not have a program that certifies a person's proficiency or competency at this time. Therefore, ESRI does not have the authority to grant certifications to individuals or facilities. ATP does authorize our business partners to use ESRI course materials. ATP partners are referred to as ESRI Authorized Instructors who are granted approval to purchase ESRI course books and teach classes using ESRI-developed course materials. We are not permitted to use the term "certified."
