Getting Started

The Authorized Training Program is open to residents of the United States and U.S. territories including overseas military bases in U.S. territories.

All instructor candidates must

• Meet Instructor Candidate Requirements
• Obtain prequalification approval.
• Take prerequisite courses
• Pass a course-specific exam
• Pass an Instructor Performance Evaluation
• Pay applicable fees.

All Authorized Partner Education Center (APEC) candidates must

• Meet APEC requirements
• Obtain prequalification approval
• Pass a Regional Office APEC inspection visit
• Pay applicable fees

All candidates require regional office and ATP approval before becoming authorized. Authorized instructors also require approval when moving within and among regions. A strong relationship with your regional office coordinator is important to your success as an ATP member.

In addition, ATP enforces maintenance requirements:

• Authorized instructors have annual requirements that depend on the particular course authorization. These requirements are listed in the Instructor Candidate Requirements.
• Authorized Partner Education Centers have annual requirements that are substantially different from those required of an individual instructor. These requirements are listed in the APEC Requirements.
