Taking an Exam

When you arrive at the Pearson VUE testing center:

  • You will be asked for two forms of identification, at least one government issued (e.g., passport, driver's license) that includes a photo ID. Both should contain a signature.
  • You will be required to sign a nondisclosure agreement before taking the exam. Review the agreements and policies before arriving at the testing center.
  • Personal items, such as a mobile phones, laptops, pagers, and notes are not allowed in the testing area.

Scoring

  • Exam results will be made available 5-10 days after exam date.
  • Numerical scores will not be given as passing scores are subject to change.

Retake policy allows for a total of three exam attempts:

  • A second attempt at the same exam may be taken a minimum of fourteen (14) days after the first exam.
  • A third attempt at the same exam may be taken a minimum of ninety (90) days after the first exam.

Incomplete and unanswered questions:

  • You will be scored only on the questions you have completed.
  • Incomplete questions will be marked incorrect.
  • You may flag questions to review later during the exam.
  • You must choose multiple answers on multiple select items to receive credit for that question.

Exam Format

  • Exam time limit: 2 hours and 30 minutes
  • Number of questions: 85-95
  • Format: Computer-based, multiple choice
  • Language: English
  • Access to ArcGIS or other Esri products is not permitted during the exam

Beta Exams

An important step in developing Esri Technical Certification examinations and scoring is beta testing. Participation in beta exams is by invitation only to Esri partners, distributors, authorized instructors, and select user groups.
