Frantz brings 32 years of telecommunications experience to the TM Forum project, in addition to his experience in advanced location technology at Esri.

Redlands, California—Esri telecommunications thought leader Randy Frantz has accepted a position as colead of TM Forum’s Internet of Things (IoT) work stream. The endeavor explores how location, advanced sensor and device data, and powerful industrial and consumer solutions can change social norms and bring business into the modern technology framework.

"As those working in IoT and the connected world sectors know, location is a critical component of the IoT ecosystem," TM Forum senior director Craig Bachmann said. "Without location providing the context to the large amounts of data collected, solutions lack the ability to create actionable intelligence."

Frantz brings 32 years of telecommunications experience to the TM Forum project, in addition to his experience in advanced location technology from the world’s leading GIS provider, Esri. He will colead TM Forum’s IoT efforts with Anders Viden of solution provider BaseN Corporation.

"I am incredibly excited and honored by TM Forum’s recognizing the importance of location in the evolving IoT ecosystem," Frantz said. "I look forward to working with industry leaders to bring this disruptive technology to market."

Frantz has supported award-winning catalyst projects that cross industries, most recently partnering with BaseN to earn one of TM Forum’s top innovation awards.
