Of course, these choices also depend on personal preference.\r\n<h3>What\u2019s the purpose?<\/h3>\r\nTo help define the purpose of a web app, answer the following questions:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>What is the goal of the web app? Is there one goal, or are there many?<\/li>\r\n \t<li>What functions do users need to perform with the app?<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Is the data available and ready to use, or does it need to be collected or transformed?<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nDifferent data types, such as dates, attachments, and imagery, can unlock specific capabilities in different apps. So the data alone can determine the potential purpose of the app.\r\n\r\nWhen an app is intended for multiple workflows and audiences, it usually works best to create more than one app. To ensure a streamlined user experience, it\u2019s advisable to create one app for each purpose and audience type.\r\n<h3>Who\u2019s the audience?<\/h3>\r\nWho will be using the app? Is it intended for the general public or seasoned GIS experts? Maybe it\u2019s for senior citizens or residents under evacuation orders.\r\n\r\nApp creators need to identify who the core users are going to be and understand their technical abilities because each audience calls for different designs. For example, people who have grown up using technology are typically comfortable clicking or tapping buttons and figuring out what to do at each step, while people who adopted technology later in life need a guided workflow to gain confidence in interacting with an app.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, when creating apps for the general public, accessibility is a basic requirement. Specific colors and levels of contrast, for instance, make it easier for some users to see different components and buttons, and it is often necessary to ensure that apps work with assistive technology such as screen readers. Every Instant Apps template has a common set of tools, including search, navigation, and integration with web analytics. The apps are also optimized for use across devices and with assistive technologies.\r\n<h3>ArcGIS Dashboards<\/h3>\r\nDashboards are some of the most viewed GIS apps ever, and it\u2019s no surprise why: they make it easy to understand data at a glance. The maps, lists, charts, and gauges that constitute a dashboard summarize information in visually appealing ways.
