Each element is unique and has its own configuration settings. For more information, see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/operations-dashboard\/help\/dashboard-layout.htm\">Dashboard Layout<\/a>.\r\n\r\nThe dashboard will include four elements: a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/operations-dashboard\/help\/map-element-and-tools.htm\">map element<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/operations-dashboard\/help\/serial-chart.htm\">serial chart<\/a>, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/operations-dashboard\/help\/list.htm\">list<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/dashboards\/get-started\/header.htm\">header<\/a>. \u00a0The map will be configured to interact with the chart and list, and the list will be configured to interact with the map.\r\n\r\nFollow the steps below to create the dashboard and configure its elements.\r\n\r\n<strong>Create a Dashboard<\/strong>\r\n\r\nA map is often the centerpiece of a dashboard. Best practices are important for the dashboard experience. Apply basic web map craft such as configuring effective pop-ups and using scale dependencies. Not only are they often the most effective way to display your geographic information, but also their operational layers can be used by other data visualizations in the dashboard to create interesting, intuitive, and compelling information elements.\r\n\r\nIn this section you will\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Configure a map element that displays pop-ups.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Add tools to view the legend, navigate to default extent and bookmarks, and zoom.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<strong>Step 1\u2014<\/strong>Open the map element menu and click\u00a0Configure.\r\n\r\nPoint to the upper left corner of the map to display the hidden menu.
