National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is on Saturday, October 22nd<\/span><\/sup><\/span>. Led by the U.S. Department of Justice, this day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for addiction to medications.<\/span><\/span>
\nJoin Walgreens in leading the fight against prescription drug <\/span>addiction. Using ArcGIS, Walgreens is helping consumers safely dispose of their medications at disposal kiosks in over 500 pharmacies across 35 state including Washington, D.C.<\/span><\/span>

\nTo date, Walgreens has successfully collected more than 10 tons of unused medications and is continuing the fight to help curb the misuse of medications and reduce the rise in overdose deaths in the first ongoing national effort by a retailer.<\/span>

\nSeveral State and County Governments are also proactively engaging their communities by providing maps where citizens can take back their drugs, such as the <\/span>RX Drug Drop Off Locations<\/span><\/a> by Arizona Department of Health Services. <\/span>

\nEach year over 17,000 deaths occur in the U.S from opioid painkillers. This map gallery is just one of <\/span>many efforts<\/span><\/a> to try and stop the epidemic and loss of <\/span> great people.<\/span><\/span>
