When I considered my potential guests and topics for this season, I felt as though it was time to explore the AI, and specifically GeoAI, territories. I knew exactly who I wanted to interview for those: our friend, Narendra Babu Vattem with iSpatial Techno Solutions. Remi and I have known Narendra for several years, as he has been a figure in the partner utility GIS space for a while. When Narendra decided to start his business, he saw potential in the AI arena, long before it was a household popular term. By identifying new ways to enhance geospatial technology with AI, Geo-AI if you will, Narendra envisioned possible growth not only in the utility sectors, but smart cities, sustainability, and local government as well. He and his team believe they can enhance the operations in virtually any business sector through AI, generative AI, and location analysis. What they do is harness the capabilities of AI in tandem with the analytical process of geospatial technology and provide enhanced recommendations that likely could not be realized with only one or the other.
It was really fun for me to learn more about Narendra’s journey. I find it fascinating to hear the stories of what entrepreneurs go through during those early days trying to establish their products and businesses. How they traverse the challenges, what keeps them motivated, and how they keep getting back up again when the business world knocks them down is always an interesting story to capture. While iSpatial is doing very well these days, receiving multiple international awards, supporting clients around the globe, and maintaining seven different product offerings, Narendra has certainly experienced highs and lows during his time as CEO. What I love the most about him is his positive spirit and his drive to succeed so that others may do the same. He saw the challenges as growth opportunities and does not let himself or his team become too complacent with their success. He is excited that a business idea he had has been able to grow into a company that employs nearly 100 people. For Narendra, that’s 100 families he’s able to help support. He is proud that his company makes it a priority to provide a healthy work environment where his people are supported and encouraged. It is truly inspiration to see that kind of dedication, commitment, and concern for communities around the world. Narendra sees the success of his company not as his own, but theirs as a group. He values his employees and recognizes it takes the efforts of them all to adapt and grown in the ever-changing technological landscape in which iSpatial operates.
I’m so glad to have had Narendra as a guest this season. They work he and his teams do at iSpatial have always been super interesting, a little imposing, and a bit mysterious to me. Our conversation helped remove some of the mystery and make the GeoAI space more inviting. I think they do incredible work and offer really interesting solutions for their clients, so I’m thrilled we were able to do this episode.
