With the ArcGIS Pro 3.7 release, the value of the Advanced Editing User Type Extension (AE UTE) has come to Pro making it possible to use advanced editing and geodatabase capabilities (such as editing utility networks) with a Creator user type and the AE UTE.
The changes made for ArcGIS Pro 3.7 include the following:
- Editing of simple features within branch versions is now supported for Creator user type
- Branch versions can now be created, updated and deleted with a Creator user type
- Running traces with utility and trace networks is now available with a Creator user type
- Displaying existing network diagrams for utility and trace networks is now available with a Creator user type
- Editing of utility networks, trace networks, parcel fabrics, dimensions, and features participating in geodatabase topologies is now possible for a Creator user type that also has the AE UTE
- Executing batch attribute rules (validation and batch calculation) is now possible for a Creator user type that also has the AE UTE
Advanced Editing User Type Extension
In October of 2023, Esri introduced the AE UTE as a method for providing consistent access to advanced editing and geodatabase capabilities. This was particularly important when using these capabilities outside ArcGIS Pro where license levels were well established. Since then, several adjustments to the capabilities available with the AE UTE have been made, including changes to branch versioning access. To learn more about these changes, check out the Licensing Update for Branch Versioning blog.
The ability to access ArcGIS Pro through user types gave us the opportunity to ensure licensing levels were consistent for similar editing and geodatabase capabilities both with and without the AE UTE. Editing and geodatabase capabilities based on user types are well documented for ArcGIS Enterprise through the ArcGIS Enterprise Functionality Matrix. Page 13 of the 12.1 release of the functionality matrix provides details on what functionality is unlocked with the AE UTE, as detailed in the table below:
As part of the ArcGIS Pro 3.7 release, Esri has made updates to the software to ensure the user experience aligns with the ArcGIS Enterprise Functionality Matrix, providing consistency when using these capabilities across ArcGIS. Esri continues to focus on providing consistent access to capabilities across ArcGIS. ArcGIS Pro 3.7 reflects this direction by aligning editing and geodatabase capabilities more closely with the rest of the platform. Organizations can begin to use the capabilities outlined above with the specified user types once they’ve installed the ArcGIS Pro 3.7 release.
