ArcGIS Runtime at DevSummit 2019

The ArcGIS Runtime SDKs are the go-to technology for building native mapping and location applications for the ArcGIS platform. Runtime apps provide rich map rendering and incorporate powerful offline capabilities, all in both 2D and 3D. They perform great on mobile devices (as well as laptops and desktops of course). In fact the Runtime powers a number of our field apps like Collector and Navigator.

Whether you want to find out if the Runtime SDK is the right technology for your project, or you want to dig deep into its capabilities, we hope you’ll be able to join us for some of the 27 Runtime technical workshops and demo theaters we’ve prepared.

Overview and Planning

Tue, 1:00pm-2:00pm

ArcGIS Runtime: an Introduction to the API and Architecture

This session will present an introduction to the Runtime SDKs, advantages of using them, and an overview of the API. This session is ideal for developers new to the runtime and managers or program managers evaluating the technology.

Thu, 5:30pm-6:30pm

ArcGIS Runtime: Road Ahead

Come and find out what exciting new functionality we have in the pipeline. This session won’t be recorded, so don’t miss it!

Fri, 10:00am-11:00am

ArcGIS Runtime: Everything (or Anything) You Wanted to Know About the ArcGIS Runtime SDKs but Were Afraid to Ask

This is your chance to put your questions to the Runtime team. We’ll spend some time collecting questions, then a panel of Runtime developers will take time to answer them. No question is out of bounds. No question is “dumb”.

We have a couple of more specific workshops that can help you as you move to Runtime and decide which Runtime SDK is right for you…

Thu, 9:00am-10:00am

ArcGIS Runtime: Building Cross-platform Apps

Fri, 10:00am-11:00am

ArcGIS Runtime: Migrating from ArcGIS Engine

The SDKs

From day one we designed Runtime to be an SDK that you could use with your existing IDEs and in-house skills. To that end we’ve worked hard to release a set of Runtime SDKs that cover a variety of development environments and target platforms. There’s a session for each of the them, with .NET split up into two parts.

Tue, 2:30pm-3:30pm

ArcGIS Runtime SDK for .NET: Building Windows Apps

ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android: Building Apps

ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS: Building Apps

Offline

The ArcGIS Runtime is a first class component of any ArcGIS Online or Enterprise web GIS solution, but it includes highly flexible and capable functionality for working with your data when disconnected. Whether you just want to view a map on your device or edit data in the field without any network connection, Runtime has patterns and capabilities to support you.

Platform

As that first class player in the ArcGIS platform, Runtime offers strong authentication patterns and can work directly with portal content (whether it’s in ArcGIS Online or Enterprise). Learn more at these two sessions.

Thu, 9:00am-10:00am

ArcGIS Runtime: Authenticating Your Apps with the ArcGIS Platform

Thu, 2:30pm-3:30pm

Demo Theaters

That’s it for the Technical Workshops, but we have eleven Demo Theaters to dive into as well!

Find out about SDK-specific tips and tricks, about working with Maps, Arcade and Analysis in the Runtime, and learn about our Open Source Runtime apps designed to give you a head start on your own Runtime projects.
