In the afternoon on Wednesday, February 26th, DevSummit will once again be taking place as part of FedGIS. New this year is an experience that takes place after FedGIS and will highlight the developer APIs and SDKs that are new and useful for the developer community. Here is a rundown of all that will take place during the DevSummit. To add the entire day to your agenda, use this customized list!
For the lunchtime hour (11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) before our General Session begins, we will be hosting a “Meet the Teams” socializing event. You will notice that within Hall B where lunch will be held, there will be signs on the tables. At these designated tables, you will be able to find one of our staff members who is participating in DevSummit ready to enjoy lunch with you! You can also find others who may be interested in the same topic and end up meeting someone new. Please look for the following signs:
- Web
- Native
- Python
- Open Source
- Builders
- Extending ArcGIS
- Game Engines
- Pro SDK
- Architecture
We look forward to meeting with you and answering any questions you may have!
We will kick off the DevSummit at 1pm (ET) with our General Session. Join Esri staff to learn how you can apply the geographic approach to develop solutions that positively impact our nation’s future. You’ll see demonstrations of the latest advancements in ArcGIS technology and hear inspiring stories on how your peers in the Federal community are empowering their agencies and organizations with GIS. This will take place in Hall E (where the FedGIS Plenary is being held), and will cover the following topics:
- Location services
- WebGIS
- Python
- Knowledge
- App Builders
- Web and Native SDKs
- and more!
As you can see, we will be covering quite a bit so make sure to add the General Session to your agenda. You can customize your experience here.
After the General Session, we will break out into the following developer-focused technical sessions that, depending on your area of interest, will help determine what your afternoon will look like:
Web Development
- ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript – Capabilities & Techniques (Presenters: Kristian Ekenes, Jeremy Bartley | Room 103A | 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.) – Tour key capabilities of ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript and learn the fundamentals of the SDK for building compelling web mapping applications. Presenters share techniques and capabilities for importing data, layer styling, editing, 2D and 3D visualization, client-side analysis, shortcuts for building your user interface (UI), and more.
- Faster Web Development with ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript Components (Presenters: Kristian Ekenes, Jeremy Bartley | Room 103 A | 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) – Bring ArcGIS experiences into a web app with a few lines of code! Presenters will introduce the new web components that are part of the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript for bringing ArcGIS experiences into your apps. Demonstrations will also include how you can use Calcite Design System web components to build accessible, consistent web applications faster. When you use Calcite and Maps SDK for JavaScript components and capabilities together, you can create compelling web mapping applications with maximum productivity.
Native Development
- ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Native Apps: An Overview and What’s New (Presenters: Nicholas Furness, Euan Cameron | Room 102A | 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.) – ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Native Apps enable you to build applications with .NET, Flutter, Kotlin, Qt, and Swift that work with the ArcGIS system and run directly on desktop and mobile devices, online or offline. Over the last year, several features have been added or enhanced including real-time feeds, clustering, form-based editing, geometry snapping, and all-new support for 3D Tiles. This session will cover these and other improvements and provide a sneak peek at what’s coming next.
Pro SDK
- Customizing Your ArcGIS Pro Experience (Presenters: Ty Fitzpatrick, Jeff Scarmazzi | Room 103B | 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.) – This session shows you how to personalize ArcGIS Pro to suit your needs. We’ll cover configuration options for task management and interface customization, enabling a more efficient workflow. Next, we’ll dive into automation with geoprocessing tools and Python scripting to streamline GIS tasks. Finally, we’ll explore advanced customization through ArcGIS Pro SDK add-ins and managed configurations, empowering you to extend ArcGIS Pro’s capabilities and tailor it for specialized requirements.
Builders
- ArcGIS Experience Builder for Developers: Widgets, Development, Deployment, and Automation (Presenter: Shawn Goulet | Room 103B | 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) – ArcGIS Experience Builder is built on React and ArcGIS API for JavaScript. In this session, we will show how to use TypeScript and React to build custom widgets, demonstrate deployment patterns, and highlight modern code collaboration and DevOps patterns when working with a team.
Python
- Spatial Analysis Using ArcGIS API for Python (Presenters: Andrew Chapkowski, Manushi Majumdar | Room 101 | 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.) – The ArcGIS API for Python is a comprehensive library for analyzing spatial data, providing access to the rich geoprocessing services and geospatial analysis capabilities of your Web GIS. In this demo theater, we’ll see how feature analysis, geocoding, network analysis, and several other tools can be leveraged to solve real-world problems. Join us to learn how you can use the ArcGIS API for Python to discern meaningful patterns and extract insights from your geospatial data.
Architecture
- Integrating ArcGIS with Other Business Systems (Presenter: Kevin Kelly | Room 101 | 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) – Realizing the full potential of ArcGIS across your organization or enterprise often demands that your ArcGIS system is integrated with other business systems, such as EAM, CRM, CAMA, and ERP systems. ArcGIS supports a variety of integration approaches and methods, as well as provides native integration solutions for specific software and system providers. In this session we will review common, high-level approaches to integrating ArcGIS with other business systems, as well as explore specific, technical integration patterns at the application, services, and data tier.
Game Engines
- ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Game Engines: An Overview and What’s New (Presenters: Euan Cameron, Max Ozenberger | Room 102A | 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) – ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Game Engines enable you use Unity and Unreal Engine to build immersive, cutting-edge 3D and XR experiences with real-world data. Over the last year several new features have been introduced such as clip, mask, replace and filter to modify geospatial data on the fly, as well as support for virtual tabletops. This session will cover these and other improvements and provide a sneak peek at what’s coming next.
Open Source
- Understanding ArcGIS Location Platform: Location Services, APIs, and Tools for Developers (Presenters: David Cardella, Courtney Yatteau | Room 102B | 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.) – ArcGIS Location Platform is a geospatial platform-as-a-service (PaaS) for developers that need to integrate location capabilities into their apps, business systems, and products. It also enables developers to create apps and extend ArcGIS products using ArcGIS APIs and SDKs. We will go through what’s new and what’s different between ArcGIS Location Platform and ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise when developing apps and how your organization might benefit from it.
