Changes to the Field Operations Mobile Apps Product Life Cycle

By Sarah Saint-Ruth

As of November 24, 2025, the Mature Support phase is being applied to the product life cycle for ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Navigator, ArcGIS QuickCapture, and ArcGIS Survey123 mobile applications. This change adds a third phase—General Availability, Mature Support, and Retired—to provide organizations with greater flexibility when deploying updates.

With this change, when a new version is released, the previous version will enter Mature Support for 90 days before being retired. During this period, the previous version remains supported, allowing organizations to validate workflows and maintain compliance with IT policies while preparing for upgrade. Bug fixes will only be applied to future releases, and previous versions cannot be installed or reinstalled on devices.

Best Practices:

Best practice is adopting the latest version as soon as possible. Esri conducts extensive testing before every release, but given the complexity of enterprise environments, local validation is essential.

To minimize risk, use the Early Adopter program, which provides access to beta releases approximately 30 days before general availability. This enables organizations to test workflows, identify issues early, and provide feedback to influence product improvements.

The Mature Support phase allows a 90-day period for the wider workforce to remain on the previous version, ensuring compliance with IT policies that mandate the use of supported software, while workflows are tested on the latest release.

It remains best practice to complete this testing during the beta phase and adopt the latest version as soon as possible.
