ArcGIS Workforce<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0is designed for dispatchers to create and assign work for mobile workers to complete in the field.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Assignments are created in the Workforce web app, but\u00a0<\/span><\/span>you might also want mobile workers to c<\/span><\/span>reate<\/span><\/span>\u00a0assignments from the field<\/span><\/span>. By bringing\u00a0<\/span><\/span>ArcGIS Survey123<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to your workflow, mobile workers will be able to create assignments in the field that will then appear in Workforce<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To get started,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>identify<\/span><\/span>\u00a0a Workforce project that requires mobile workers to have the ability to create assignments from the field.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>You’ll<\/span><\/span>\u00a0create a view of the assignments layer for the mobile workers, use the view layer to create a survey in Survey123 Connect, publish the survey, and then create assignments using Survey123.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Create a view of the assignments layer<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n

Creating a hosted feature layer view from the assignments layer limits the fields and types of data the mobile worker sees. This ensures they only edit the Workforce data you want them to. To learn more about the fields within the Workforce feature service, see the Workforce schema overview<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Set the view definition<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

In your view, browse to the <\/span>Visualization\u00a0<\/span><\/b>tab. Click\u00a0<\/span>More Options <\/span><\/b>, and click <\/span>Set View Definition<\/span><\/b>. The\u00a0<\/span>Define Features<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Define Fields\u00a0<\/span><\/b>options appear. These allow you to limit the data available to mobile workers<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Note<\/span><\/span><\/strong>:<\/strong> Your mobile workers might not need all the fields. You can choose to exclude Description, Priority,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Work Order ID<\/span><\/span>, and Due Date.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Create a survey<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n

Open the Survey123 Connect desktop app to create your survey (the\u00a0<\/span>Survey123 web designer<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>doesn\u2019t<\/span>\u00a0support creating a survey from an existing hosted feature layer). Click\u00a0<\/span>New survey<\/span><\/b>\u00a0to get started. Give the survey a name and choose the\u00a0<\/span>Feature\u00a0<\/span><\/b>s<\/span><\/b>ervice<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>option<\/span>. A survey is created using the fields in the view layer<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and the spreadsheet that defines the survey opens.\u00a0<\/span>On the\u00a0<\/span>survey<\/span><\/b>\u00a0tab<\/span>\u00a0of the spreadsheet<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>you\u2019ll<\/span>\u00a0find the fields imported from the view layer.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>assignmenttype<\/code><\/span>\u00a0field is not automatically added to the survey because it\u00a0<\/span>has<\/span>\u00a0a\u00a0<\/span>GUID<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>field type<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Yo<\/span>u\u2019ll<\/span>\u00a0m<\/span>anually add this field so mobile workers can include the assignment type when filling in their survey. <\/span>In an empty row on the\u00a0<\/span>survey<\/span><\/b> tab, fill in<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0following columns<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
