The older version of Map Viewer is now listed as Map Viewer Classic and can still be accessed in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This begs the question, which Map Viewer should I use to be successful when creating<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and editing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0map<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/en-us\/arcgis\/products\/arcgis-field-maps\/resources\">ArcGIS Field Maps<\/a>? <span class=\"TextRun BCX0 SCXW19193927\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX0 SCXW19193927\">You\u2019ll likely end up using both, but the answer to this question depends on how you currently create maps for the field.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There are some capabilities, such as c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">onfiguring pop-ups <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and creating feature templates<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">that are not currently\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">included in the new Map Viewer\u2014so you\u2019ll need to use Map Viewer Classic.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0However, there are some capabilities included in the new Map Viewer, such as creating group layers<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, that aren\u2019t supported in Map Viewer Classic.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The following should be considered when creating maps for use in Field Maps:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The default Map Viewer experience<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pop<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">-ups<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Feature templates<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Group layers<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"sidebar","content":"<p>For general information about the new Map Viewer see <span data-ccp-props=\"{\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/get-started\/get-started-with-mv.htm\">Get started with Map Viewer (ArcGIS Online)<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.arcgis.com\/en\/portal\/latest\/use\/get-started-with-mv.htm\">Get Started with Map Viewer (ArcGIS Enterprise)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n","image_reference":false,"layout":"standard","image_reference_figure":"","snippet":"","spotlight_name":"","section_title":"","position":"Center","spotlight_image":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Default Map Viewer experience<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The current default Map Viewer experience is Map Viewer Classic. If you want to change the default experience to the new Map Viewer, you\u2019ll need to do so from your organization\u2019s settings. Se<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/administer\/configure-map.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_92454AED1B2E40B0B56307DC1C4EFC1F\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Primary map viewer (ArcGIS Online)<\/span><\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.arcgis.com\/en\/portal\/latest\/administer\/windows\/configure-map.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_92454AED1B2E40B0B56307DC1C4EFC1F\">Primary map viewer (ArcGIS Enterprise)<\/a> for more information<span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The default Map Viewer experience you should use depends on what features are most needed when creating your maps for the field. If your maps require<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0configuring<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> pop-ups or<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0creating<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> feature templates (as described below), <span class=\"TextRun BCX0 SCXW135462103\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX0 SCXW135462103\">you<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX0 SCXW135462103\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX0 SCXW135462103\">\u00a0may want<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX0 SCXW135462103\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX0 SCXW135462103\">\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX0 SCXW135462103\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX0 SCXW135462103\">keep<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Map Viewer Classic as the default Map Viewer experience.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"><span class=\"TextRun SCXW163336242 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW163336242 BCX0\">Regardless of which Map Viewer is the default for your organization, both are always\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW163336242 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2 SCXW163336242 BCX0\">accessible.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Configure pop-ups<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The new Map Viewer includes a pop-up experience that is supported in the Field Maps mobile app. You can configure dynamic pop-ups that include field lists, charts, attachments, custom Arcade elements, and more. To learn more about creating pop-ups in Map Viewer, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-online\/mapping\/configure-pop-ups-basics\/\">Pop-ups: the essentials (blog post)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Create feature templates<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Creating feature templates<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0allows mobile workers to select\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">from categorized features<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> when collecting data in the field. Group layers are also supported in the Field Maps web an<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">d mobile apps.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, group layers are not supported in Map Viewer Classic. If you save a map that contains group layers in Map Viewer Classic, the group layers will be\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">lost. If you make changes in the Field Maps Designer web app, such as configuring the form, those changes will persist if you save the map in either the new Map Viewer or Map Viewer Classic. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Will saving the map in the new Map Viewer affect changes I made in Map Viewer Classic?<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">No, changes from Map Viewer Classic will persist.
