The new ArcGIS JavaScript API<\/a> and its accompanying online SDK are now available
\n\t\t\tfor public use. With the ArcGIS JavaScript API you can add GIS functionality to
\n\t\t\tyour Web applications with JavaScript code that runs in the browser. The online
\n\t\t\tSDK includes help and samples for the API and is hosted within the ArcGIS
\n\t\t\tServer Resource Center<\/a> web site.<\/p>\n

Who can use the ArcGIS JavaScript API? Is there a cost?<\/h3>\n

Everyone can use the ArcGIS JavaScript API. There is no fee for using the ArcGIS
\n\t\t\tJavaScript API or deploying an application built with it.<\/p>\n

How do I learn how to use the ArcGIS JavaScript API?<\/h3>\n

The best way to learn the API is to visit the ArcGIS JavaScript API home page<\/a>.
\n\t\t\tIf you’re brand new to JavaScript programming, there are walkthrough topics to
\n\t\t\thelp you understand what JavaScript is and how to start working with it in
\n\t\t\tArcGIS. If you have more experience developing with JavaScript, you might take
\n\t\t\ta look at the live samples. The samples cover a range of topics and each
\n\t\t\tcontains a discussion of what is happening in the code. Finally, a detailed API
\n\t\t\treference describes each class available in the API.<\/p>\n

What services does the API work with?<\/h3>\n

The ArcGIS JavaScript API works with ArcGIS Server 9.3 services, which are
\n\t\t\texposed through REST technology. If you haven’t received or deployed 9.3 yet,
\n\t\t\tyou can still get started learning the API using several ESRI Sample Servers<\/a>
\n\t\t\tthat have been configured for this purpose. The API also consumes ArcGIS Online<\/a>
\n\t\t\tservices. This sample<\/a> shows how you can add an ArcGIS Online layer to a
\n\t\t\tJavaScript application.<\/p>\n

What else do I need to know?<\/h3>\n

Two ArcGIS JavaScript Extensions were also released at the same time as the
