In an effort to mitigate the effects of hydromodification, the California State Water Resources Control Board convened an expert panel to identify <a href=\"http:\/\/www.waterboards.ca.gov\/water_issues\/programs\/stormwater\/hydromodification.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">hydromodification planning and management<\/a> methods. As a preliminary step, the panel of experts suggested the use of GIS as a rapid assessment tool. Geology, slope, and land use were used to characterize the watershed into <a href=\"ftp:\/\/ftp.sccwrp.org\/pub\/download\/DOCUMENTS\/TechnicalReports\/605_HydromodScreeningTools_GIS.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">geomorphic landscape units<\/a> for both current and planned land use datasets.
