Last week, these Esri owned layers were updated, including the addition of two new agencies, more accurate ownership attribution, faster drawing speeds, and access to the latest features in ArcGIS Pro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Vector<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=5e92f2e0930848faa40480bcb4fdc44e\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Federal Lands feature layer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> provides access to vector data for all six agencies. In ArcGIS Online, the feature layer can be <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/apply-filters.htm\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">filtered<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> and new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/create-hosted-views.htm\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">feature layer views<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> of the data saved as layers:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=eb2c541a2ce24627a497e0f5887ff13d\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Bureau of Land Management Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=ecbac6448a5144d5a420463d055e53b0\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Bureau of Reclamation Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=6b911a60a5a4465a85fd5c42668bf907\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Department of Defense Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=5ebb85755b864aefa150c012c82f6624\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA National Park Service Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=8424d1c6ed314247a53efcc64e2edb08\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Fish and Wildlife Service Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=7cd3434b31e84e3293ec302958f95f6c\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Forest Service Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">The new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=5e92f2e0930848faa40480bcb4fdc44e\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Federal Lands feature layer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> is best for visualization at larger scales (&gt; 1:2,000,000) and can be combined with an imagery layer or a tile layer in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=3714df68987140538522602c1068b9ea\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">web map<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> to provide fast rendering across the entire range of scales. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">In ArcGIS Online you can <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/use-hosted-layers.htm\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">export<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> the feature layer\u2019s data, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/analyze\/perform-analysis.htm\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">perform analysis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/change-style.htm\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">change symbology<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">, and work with the layer\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/show-tables.htm\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">attribute table<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> to select features and edit data. In ArcGIS Pro you can do even more including using the layer as an analytic input to a geoprocessing tool, model, or Python script.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Raster<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=986e0b86c8e447549aaecbed728538f0\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Federal Lands imagery layers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> were also updated with the same data used to create the feature layers. Like the feature layer, raster functions and filters allow us to create views of subsets of the data. We created imagery layers for each of the six federal agencies in the data set:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=dc3d8c3cc3b64af484723edc0a1f0343\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Bureau of Land Management Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=5e736286c4814df78741378ed91d3f62\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Bureau of Reclamation<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=6231026e2d524956b1ed685c14c0fc5e\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Department of Defense Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=d6980f980e3f48b0acf5bcca2716fdae\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA National Park Service Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=bacf1761961047b5ae56300efa7891c3\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Fish and Wildlife Service Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=dc08afd31d724323a67ec4194ea3cde1\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">USA Forest Service Lands<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Imagery layers are useful online to rapidly draw across the entire scale range and can be used in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=3714df68987140538522602c1068b9ea\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">web maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> to support the feature service at smaller scales. Imagery layers are particularly useful in ArcGIS Pro where you can use <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/help\/data\/imagery\/raster-functions.htm\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">functions<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> to extract, modify, and combine imagery layers on the fly to create landscape models that reveal patterns in the data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">These layers are part of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/livingatlas.arcgis.com\/en\/\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;font-family: Calibri\">ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">, which provides an easy way to explore many other authoritative maps on hundreds of topics like this one.<\/span><\/p>\n"}],"authors":[{"ID":4911,"user_firstname":"Caitlin","user_lastname":"Scopel","nickname":"Caitlin Scopel","user_nicename":"coscopel","display_name":"Caitlin Scopel","user_email":"CScopel@esri.com","user_url":"","user_registered":"2018-03-02 00:16:31","user_description":"Senior Project Manager for the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World Environment Team.
