In John&#8217;s example above, using the <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/vector-tile-style-editor\/\">Vector Tile Style Editor<\/a> will make a copy of the selected basemap style, allow you to make edits, and then save that updated style to your content directory when you save your work. In this specific case the only thing saved to your content directory is the style file, all the other components stay put.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p>What if we wanted to do more than just isolate a specific layer from a basemap and add that to other basemaps? What if we instead wanted to smash two different basemap styles together? In the above example, this is <strong>Style A<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Locate and download the style for the layers you&#8217;d like to add to <strong>Style A<\/strong>, this is <strong>Style B<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Style B<\/strong>, find and replace all <em>&#8220;source&#8221;: &#8220;esri&#8221;<\/em> with a unique source name like <em>&#8220;source&#8221;: &#8220;nyc&#8221;<\/em> as illustrated above.<\/li>\n<li>Insert the additional source in <strong>Style A<\/strong>. Make sure you rename this to match the layer source property, e.g. <em>&#8220;nyc&#8221;.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Locate the appropriate &#8220;url&#8221; for <strong>Style B<\/strong> tiles, and update the source object accordingly.<\/li>\n<li>Insert the layers from <strong>Style B<\/strong> into the desired positions in <strong>Style A<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Save the style file (.json) and update the basemap from step 1 with this updated style.<\/li>\n<li>Open the updated basemap in the Vector Tile Style Editor.<\/li>\n<li>Repair any symbol issues (missing icons) by using the available symbols from the basemap sprite sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Repair any text label issues (missing labels) by using a font from the available set of fonts in the basemap.<\/li>\n<li>Save your style, update your web map, and share your glorious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nxxSIX3fmmo\">frankenstein<\/a> basemap creation with the world!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Be sure to read up on the <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/mapping\/map-authoring\/multiple-vector-tile-sources.htm\">help documentation<\/a> for this particular technique.
