Administrators and members are encouraged to\u00a0<strong>configure the new Map Viewer as their primary map viewer<\/strong> to take advantage of the new capabilities and enhancements that are delivered with each update.<\/p>\n<p>Both map viewers are available, and some workflows (such as analysis) require Map Viewer Classic. For help in deciding which to use, see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/reference\/faq.htm#ESRI_QUESTIONANSWER_B6637795FB5F4953B40842F64C80D90D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Which map viewer should I use?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The primary map viewer is configured by the administrator in the\u00a0<strong>Map section<\/strong>\u00a0of the organization settings. Individual members can set their own viewer preference. Both Map Viewer and Map Viewer Classic can be opened via the app launcher regardless of the primary viewer specified.<\/p>\n<p>With this update, Map Viewer has been enhanced with new capabilities and features, including the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>Flow style<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a class=\"xref xref\" href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/style-imagery-mv.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_B4D1CB643CAC41F893440F7EC6F07313\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flow smart mapping style<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<span class=\"ph\">Map Viewer<\/span> allows you to display vector field data in imagery layers using animated streamlines and wavefronts to represent direction and magnitude. It&#8217;s ideal for displaying ocean or wind currents as waves or streaming lines, in which the direction indicates the direction of flow, and the length, color, and speed of the flowlines (or wavefronts) indicates the magnitude (or power) of the current.<\/p>\n<p>Flow can be combined with other effects and blending to create an expressive animation. You can now <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/create-form-mv.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_C0751CD9ADFB4D25898C9C83C82BF787\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">build calculated expressions<\/a> that automatically populate fields in editable feature layers in the web map. Use <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/arcade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ArcGIS Arcade<\/a> to build the expressions that will calculate a value for the field. By automatically populating the field, you save time for editors and enforce data integrity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>Search results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can now\u00a0<a class=\"xref xref\" href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/get-started\/search-locations-mv.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_D234782798A64DB9B2B05E07DF111BE5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">add search results to a new or existing sketch layer<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<span class=\"ph\">Map Viewer<\/span>.
