They are new additions to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/livingatlas.arcgis.com\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Living Atlas<\/span><\/a> and <span data-contrast=\"auto\">provide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=1c8e963bc94c4026bc67488e954d1cb7\">daily minimum and maximum<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=0ae7cf18df0a4b4d9e7eea665f00500d\">hourly apparent and expected<\/a>\u00a0temperature forecasts for the Contiguous United States (CONUS), Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These layers were built to show you a wide range of temperatures across the forecast period. They are a snapshot of what is coming and can be leveraged by a variety of users such as emergency managers, power grid operators, or human health organizations as additional resources for their maps and forecast processes. Where is it going to be over 100<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00b0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">F? Is there any overnight relief from the heatwave? Which areas within my district are freezing? This palette purposely uses each temperature class as a color change cue. We wanted the breaks and associated colors to make sense and \u2018feel\u2019 like what they represent, like warming yellow 70s or freezing white -40s. In ArcGIS Pro we used an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/arcade\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Arcade<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0expression to classify the temperature values into <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">five-degree increment breaks so that a color could be assigned to every class. There is no hierarchy in this layer, just numerical order. The emphasis of the palette colors should be equitable in that sense. The hot oranges should not appear more prominently than the cooler teals.
