href=\"http:\/\/desktop.arcgis.com\/en\/arcmap\/latest\/extensions\/business-analyst\/customer-setup-tool.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Store and Customer Setup<\/a> tools.\u00a0 These allowed you to geocode your customer files using an installed address locator and connect your stores to customers in the workflow.\u00a0 The linked layers were conveniently used as input to other tools.\u00a0 We did not carry these exact Store and Customer tools over to the <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/help\/analysis\/business-analyst\/accessing-the-business-analyst-toolbox.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Analyst Pro toolbox<\/a>, but the work can be done via Pro&#8217;s native Geoprocessing tools.\u00a0 <strong>This is yet another way to continue ArcMap workflows in ArcGIS Pro.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The most popular options to assign stores to customers in Business Analyst Desktop were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>By closest store location<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>By trade area<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each of these can act as a surrogate if an organization does not have customer attribute data from either point-of-sale, memberships, or loyalty programs (grocery stores, smart phone apps, etc).<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how to recreate the process in ArcGIS Pro.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll assume you&#8217;ve already <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/help\/data\/geocoding\/convert-a-table-to-locations-on-the-map.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">geocoded<\/a> your address file.<\/p>\n<h1>By closest store location<\/h1>\n<p>The purpose of this option is to understand which customers are geographically closest to each store &#8211; this is useful to identify market areas, refine advertising campaigns, or reconsider delivery zones.<\/p>\n<p>In the map below we have two store locations and hundreds of customers scattered everywhere (left side).\u00a0 We want to identify which ones are closest to each store (right next option is to assign customers to stores by trade areas.<\/p>\n<h1>By trade area<\/h1>\n<p>One of the ideas behind assigning customers to trade areas is to better understand which patrons belong to specific geographical boundaries.\u00a0 You can use this information to develop marketing campaigns, for example, to link customers per ZIP Code or to drive-time boundaries.\u00a0 Demographics can vary widely from one boundary to the next.\u00a0 You can benchmark the customers per trade area to understand sectors that are growing or declining over time.<\/p>\n<p>In the map below we have customers scattered everywhere (left side).\u00a0 We want to identify which ones fall within each 1-mile trade area (right side) for further
