Many people stopped by to learn about the latest features in ArcGIS StoryMaps, but then asked, &#8220;What do I have available to me in ArcGIS Enterprise?&#8221; Since it&#8217;s really dependent on your organization&#8217;s version, the answer was undoubtedly, &#8220;It depends.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The good news is ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 or higher includes Esri&#8217;s professional storytelling tool, ArcGIS StoryMaps. However, the storytelling features available at each release change quite significantly. This blog captures what is included in the latest version, provides resources to help you determine what is available in previous versions, and gives a heads up about Esri Story Maps if you&#8217;re still using the classic templates.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"ph\">ArcGIS Enterprise<\/span>\u00a011.0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Esri released <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-enterprise\/announcements\/whats-new-in-arcgis-enterprise-11-0\/\">ArcGIS Enterprise 11.0<\/a> in July for Linux\/Windows and for Kubernetes in September featuring many new enhancements and functionality. If your organization is on that version, it contains the most robust features of ArcGIS StoryMaps available on ArcGIS Enterprise including:<\/p>\n<section id=\"ESRI_SECTION2_187417FB18894C2D8AEFB48D344BC472\" class=\"section2 padded-anchor\">\n<h3>New storytelling features and enhancements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An enhanced experience for working with text, including superscript and subscript, nested lists, formatting shortcuts, easier hyperlink configuration, the ability to drag text blocks and reorder them, and more<\/li>\n<li>Customize the title, description, and thumbnail shown when a story is shared on social media<\/li>\n<li>Disable updates to a story&#8217;s ArcGIS item details during publication<\/li>\n<li>Entire immersive blocks, as well as sidecar and slideshow slides containing an express map, can be duplicated<\/li>\n<li>Audio clips and buttons can be added to map tour place descriptions<\/li>\n<li>The block palette and many other builder components have an updated design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"ESRI_SECTION2_F0719009B0574D68B0D3D34C5EC241F7\" class=\"section2 padded-anchor\">\n<h3>Mapping<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Express maps can be used with map actions and in swipe blocks<\/li>\n<li>3D mode is available for map tours<\/li>\n<li>A new map tour can use a basemap in any projection<\/li>\n<li>The legend can be pinned open<\/li>\n<li>A time animation widget is available for time-enabled maps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"ESRI_SECTION2_485B26323D104571933C23866E37D6F7\" class=\"section2 padded-anchor\">\n<h3>Themes<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Published themes can be kept private or shared to your organization and groups<\/li>\n<li>Browse and use themes that have been shared to you through your organization or groups<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s easier to set and work with approved themes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"ESRI_SECTION2_F78E19D81DCE4A1B88B3440053CA63DA\" class=\"section2 padded-anchor\">\n<h3>Collections<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Images, videos, and PDFs can be added to a collection<\/li>\n<li>Add a story, app, or web page to a collection using its link<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"ESRI_SECTION2_D66D2FE1388D42A58E4C6C74A7945C3A\" class=\"section2 padded-anchor\">\n<h3>More improvements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Stories, collections, and themes can be shared through distributed collaboration<\/li>\n<li>Action buttons on StoryMap item pages indicate whether the item is a story or collection<\/li>\n<li>StoryMap Theme item pages have a\u00a0<span class=\"uicontrol\">Share<\/span> button and action buttons to create a new story or id=\"Story Maps\"><strong>Esri Story Maps templates<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In case you missed it, ArcGIS Enterprise 11.0 no longer includes the ability to create new classic Esri Story Maps stories nor view existing stories created with the classic templates.
