real-time data becomes quicker, easier<br \/>\nand cheaper we\u2019re going to need ways to consume and view it. \u00a0One example<br \/>\nis GeoRSS, where a service is hosted (like the USGS) that gives you a<br \/>\nformatted .xml file with coordinates and attributes. \u00a0There are many<br \/>\nweb-based applications for reading in these feeds (<a title=\"SilverLight\/WPF API\" href=\"http:\/\/help.arcgis.com\/en\/webapi\/silverlight\/index.html\">SilverLight<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Flex API\" href=\"http:\/\/help.arcgis.com\/en\/webapi\/flex\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flex<\/a>, and<br \/>\n<a title=\"JavaScript API\" href=\"http:\/\/help.arcgis.com\/en\/webapi\/javascript\/arcgis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JavaScript\u00a0<\/a>API\u2019s for example) but I want to view this data in ArcMap natively,<br \/>\nquery it and use it in my analysis.<\/p>\n<p>To accomplish this task it\u2019ll require the use of the<br \/>\nData Interoperability Extension for ArcGIS and access to a GeoRSS service.<br \/>\nFor this purpose, I\u2019ll be using the USGS\u00a0real-time\u00a0worldwide<br \/>\nearthquake listing\u00a0<a title=\"USGS Earthquakes\" href=\"http:\/\/earthquake.usgs.gov\/earthquakes\/catalogs\/eqs7day-M5.xml%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first thing I need to do is add a new<br \/>\nInteroperability Connection in ArcCatalog by double clicking on Add<br \/>\nInteroperability Connection;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/downloads2.esri.com\/blogs\/images\/dev_18598.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, click on the ellipses button next to the Format<br \/>\nand browse to GeoRSS\/RSS Feed;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/downloads2.esri.com\/blogs\/images\/dev_18599.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/downloads2.esri.com\/blogs\/images\/dev_18600.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Copy\/Paste the GeoRSS link into the dataset the<br \/>\nParameters button.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Once the connection is created you can simply drag and<br \/>\ndrop the Entry Point layer into the data frame of ArcMap to view the<br \/>\ninformation;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/downloads2.esri.com\/blogs\/images\/dev_18602.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once in ArcMap you can symbolize the data as you see<br \/>\nfit and begin to query and analyze the data;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/downloads2.esri.com\/blogs\/images\/dev_18603.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>*Note* To
