A new feature added this year is support for rasters . You can find more details on raster support in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-pro\/analytics\/from-features-to-pixels-the-r-arcgis-bridge-gets-your-data\/\">new blog<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.arcgis.com\/en\/projects\/identify-an-ecological-niche-for-african-buffalo\/\">new learn lesson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Growing functionality of the R-ArcGIS bridge allow you to integrate more data sources into your spatial problem solving to gain more understanding from big data. A bottleneck in using R often occurs with large scale problems, particularly in terms of memory and speed. Microsoft has open-source versions of R that are designed to overcome these bottlenecks. We are pleased to announce that the R-ArcGIS bridge also bridges into <a href=\"https:\/\/mran.microsoft.com\/\">Microsoft\u2019s version of R, MRAN<\/a>, so that you can leverage the full power of the R language at scale.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft has multiple offerings of R for desktop such as <a href=\"https:\/\/mran.microsoft.com\/open\">R-Open<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/machine-learning-server\/r-client\/what-is-microsoft-r-client\">R-Client<\/a>. You can work with larger data sets and speed-up your analysis using either of these versions.\u00a0 R-Open provides out-of-the-box performance improvements and R-Client allows you to parallelize your R code.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrations of bridging into the different Microsoft R offerings using the R-ArcGIS bridge were\u00a0presented at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esri.com\/events\/devsummit\">2018 Esri Developer\u2019s Summit<\/a>. You can find examples of integrating different types of Microsoft R using the R-ArcGIS bridge in this <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/lEKx_pJIKj0?list=PLaPDDLTCmy4aA6oxJVe1YsJlxJO_0psyv&amp;t=1737\">video<\/a>. In addition, Microsoft has showcased the Microsoft R-ArcGIS integration with an <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Azure\/DataScienceVM\/blob\/master\/Notebooks\/ArcGIS\/R%20walkthrough%20ArcGIS%20Data%20analysis%20and%20ML.ipynb\">example on seagrass habitat prediction<\/a>, that follows a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-enterprise\/analytics\/the-science-of-where-seagrasses-grow-arcgis-and-machine-learning\/\">previous blog post from ESRI<\/a>.\u00a0 From a broader perspective, Microsoft R and ArcGIS integration is another important component of making Microsoft\u2019s global sustainability initiative, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/aiforearth\">AI for Earth<\/a>, more accessible to ArcGIS community.<\/p>\n<p>Do you want to learn more about what you can do with the R-ArcGIS bridge and the recent enhancements?
