Using a tile package allows you to provision devices with larger and more detailed basemaps that can be reused across multiple maps.<\/p>\n<p>With this update, map authors can now browse for and reference a tile package from their organization to be used as the offline basemap. Once referenced, downloading a map area will download the tile package if it isn&#8217;t already on the device. The downloaded tile package can be used across maps and map areas without having to be re-downloaded.<\/p>\n<h2>Map author experience<\/h2>\n<p>Using the <a class=\"hasicon\" href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/3.0\/tool-reference\/data-management\/create-map-tile-package.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Create Map Tile Package Tool\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a class=\"hasicon\" href=\"https:\/\/prod.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/3.0\/tool-reference\/data-management\/create-vector-tile-package.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Create Vector Tile Package Tool\u00a0<\/a> within ArcGIS Pro, you can create a new tile package and then upload it to your organization using the <a class=\"hasicon\" href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/tool-reference\/data-management\/share-package.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Share Package <\/a>tool. If you already have a downloaded .tpk or .vtpk file, you can simply <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/manage-data\/add-files-as-items.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">add it as a new item<\/a> to your organization.<\/p>\n<p>Once the tile package is added to your organization, open the Field Maps Designer web app. On the Offline page, expand the &#8220;Basemap and tile package&#8221; section to locate the new option to browse and select an existing tile package within your organization. Until now, all of the form logic has been stored within the map. Also, using the expressions dialog, you can select an existing expression and share it with another form element.<\/p>\n<h2>New Arcade editor<\/h2>\n<p>When writing arcade expressions we\u2019re upgrading to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-online\/mapping\/introducing-the-new-arcade-editor-in-arcgis-online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Arcade editor<\/a> that was added into the November release of ArcGIS Online. With the new Arcade editor, you have much more space to write your expressions, and you can take advantage of profile variables, grouping of functions, and <strong>Intellisense<\/strong>!<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h1>Location sharing improvements<\/h1>\n<p>ArcGIS Field Maps includes the ability to <strong>record<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/field-maps\/ios\/help\/track.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>share<\/strong> your location<\/a>. This capability works in the background, when disconnected, and can be used independent of a map to improve operational awareness for a variety of different workflows.<\/p>\n<p>With the February update, we&#8217;ve added 2 new configuration settings:<\/p>\n<p>1. Configure the <strong>upload frequency of last known locations<\/strong> for non-managed devices using a new <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/field-maps\/android\/help\/deploy-your-map.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_F7DE2402BA8743E5BFC4A1241072960E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app link<\/a> parameter named <em>locationSharingUploadLKLFrequency<\/em>. Organizations that need to support multi-agency response efforts, contractors, or simply do not utilize an MDM for application deployment can take advantage of this new app link setting. Generating a QR code using the app link scheme, mobile workers can use their camera to quickly configure the upload frequency from the default of 60 seconds to as frequent as 5 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>2. Provide real-time operational awareness <strong>without recording or storing location history<\/strong>. Configurable via an <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/field-maps\/android\/help\/deploy-your-map.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_F7DE2402BA8743E5BFC4A1241072960E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app link<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/field-maps\/android\/help\/deploy-your-map.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_CC53DED5869D43EA8357CDFE7CAE8959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MDM configuration keyword<\/a> named <em>locationSharingLKLOnly<\/em>, organizations can use location sharing to only store and record last known locations and not persist location history. Generating a QR code using the app link scheme, mobile workers can use their camera to quickly configure Field Maps to only record and share their last known location and not their location history.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h1>Smart card reader support<\/h1>\n<p>iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.1 devices now support connected <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/guide\/deployment\/use-a-smart-card-on-iphone-and-ipad-dep8b8c8927a\/web\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">smart card readers<\/a>. That means organizations using PKI authentication with PIV smart cards and CCID-compliant readers can now authenticate into their ArcGIS Enterprise portal and use Field Maps.<\/p>\n<p><em>This capability is available in ArcGIS Online and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">all<\/span> supported versions of ArcGIS Enterprise.<\/em><\/p>\n<h1>Field Maps Designer<\/h1>\n<p>With this update, you&#8217;ll find the Field Maps web app has a new name, <strong>Field Maps Designer<\/strong>. As we continue adding new capabilities to ArcGIS Field Maps, it&#8217;s important that you <strong>design<\/strong> great experiences for your mobile workforce. The June update will include support for <strong>Windows 11<\/strong> devices via the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). It&#8217;s available for testing in our <a href=\"https:\/\/earlyadopter.esri.com\/key\/ArcGISFieldMaps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Early Adopter Program<\/a> right now!<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll have modest updates to existing capabilities in June as well.
