Normally, these files can contain anywhere from a few thousand to millions of records per file. First,\u00a0you\u00a0need to import the data. If the data is in a shapefile, you\u00a0can add\u00a0that to your map and\u00a0set your time field. This can occur when bringing in data\u00a0from CSVs or Excel sheets when dates sometimes get stored in text fields.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing\u00a0to consider when validating the input data\u00a0is what field to use as the unique identifier field.\u00a0Movement tools operate on tracks, so you will need to identify which field in the data identifies the track. Depending on the source of data, it will be either a globally unique identifier (GUID) or track name. After validating the\u00a0fields,\u00a0you must time-enable your data.\u00a0This was covered in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/allsource\/analytics\/spatiotemporal-methods-with-arcgis-allsource-part-1-time-enabling-layers\/\">Part 1<\/a> of this article. Movement tools require that your input data be time-enabled, or they will not work.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Run the Movement tools<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Once your data is time-enabled, you are ready to start using the Movement tools. The quickest way to find them is to go to the <strong>Movement<\/strong> drop-down menu in the <strong>Tools<\/strong> group on the <strong>Analysis<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the Movement tools outputs data in unique ways. For instance, the\u00a0<strong>Find Cotravelers<\/strong>\u00a0tool detects who the traveler and cotraveler are, their difference of distance and time, as well as the location of the traveling feature.
