The highlights of this release include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Performance improvements for spatial joins<\/li>\n<li>New functionality to improve authentication support<\/li>\n<li>Several new spatial functions<\/li>\n<li>Improvements to the built-in tools for spatial aggregation and nearest neighbor calculations<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use<a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/data\/data-sources\/filegdb\/\"> file geodatabases directly in your analytics<\/a><\/li>\n<li>64-bit integer support for feature service fields<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here is an overview of the new features!<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h3><strong>Performance improvements for spatial joins<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Faster performance is always better!\u00a0 Increasing the speed at which you can perform spatial analysis is highly important to us. \u00a0To make joins more performant, we have updated the spatial join functionality to be more robust and less sensitive to complex polygons and dataset ordering.\u00a0 This has resulted in up to two orders of magnitude improvement with certain complex datasets.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h3><strong>Authentication support<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As of the 1.2 release, GeoAnalytics Engine supports <strong><em>Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and OpenID authentication<\/em><\/strong>. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Keeping your users, data, and services secure is of paramount importance in a big data environment, so we are making it easier for you to maintain the security of your analytic environments while simplifying your authentication experience.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h3><strong>Enhanced collection of spatial functions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The 1.2 release has numerous new spatial functions to support data processing in your analytics workflow.\u00a0 To support data transformation, we have introduced five new affine transformation functions (<a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_translate\/\">Translate<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_shear\/\">Shear<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_flip\/\">Flip<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_rotate\/\">Rotate<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_scale\/\">Scale<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Point data doesn\u2019t always contain timestamps to indicate the order in which points are connected into a line, so we have added a function to create linestrings from ordered lists of points <em>without timestamps<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_aggr_linestring\/\">ST_Aggr_Linestring<\/a>) to make it easier to work with these data. For instance, you can easily connect points along mile markers on rivers to form continuous to analytics tools<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The tools in GeoAnalytics Engine provide more advanced calculations that can operate across all rows and columns in the dataset.\u00a0 In the 1.2 release, the <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/tools\/aggregate-points\/\">Aggregate Points<\/a> tool now has built-in support for <a href=\"https:\/\/h3geo.org\/\">H3 bins<\/a>, which makes it easier to combine results with data from other sources that are indexed to the H3 grid.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/tools\/nearest-neighbors\/\">Nearest Neighbors<\/a> has also been updated to support geodesic distance and now supports inputs using geographic or projected coordinate systems.\u00a0 This provides greater flexibility in determining the set of nearest locations of interest using planar or geodesic calculations, so that you don&#8217;t need to adjust your coordinate system in order to perform accurate
