How to build a trail viewer app<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Follow the steps below to create a basic trail viewer application. Feel free to further customize the layout, themes, and content for your own app. You will need an ArcGIS organizational account with privileges<\/a>\u00a0to create content.<\/p>\n

Create a new application<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Use your own web map with trail data or use the Rocky Mountain National Park Service Trails<\/a> map sample from the example above.<\/li>\n
  2. From the web map item page, click Create Web App<\/strong> and choose Experience Builder<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Find the Blank grid<\/strong> template and click Create<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Configure elevation profiles for a layer<\/h3>\n

    1. From the Insert widget<\/strong> panel, find the Elevation profile <\/b>widget and add it below the Map widget.<\/li>\n
    2. Connect the Elevation Profile widget to the Map widget.<\/li>\n
    3. Update the Map Settings<\/strong> to enable Selectable Layers<\/strong>. This will display the ground elevation profile when selecting lines on the map.<\/li>\n
    4. Use the Live View<\/strong> mode to select a trail and view its elevation profile.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      View intersecting trails along the profile<\/h3>\n

      1. Update the Map Settings<\/strong> to enable Intersecting Layers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      2. Select a layer to intersect: this supports lines and points layers. For this example, select your trails layer.<\/li>\n
      3. Choose a Display Field<\/strong> for the intersecting features displayed in the elevation profile graph.<\/li>\n
      4. Optionally, make changes to the Style<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      5. Use the Live View<\/strong> mode to select a trail and see connected and intersecting trails.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
