You may want to highlight a portion of text in a different color to ensure it stands out to your readers, or, match the text color in your pop-up to the feature\u2019s symbology.<\/p>\n<p>The new font color button provides you with two methods to color your text: Static or Data-driven.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h3>Static font color<\/h3>\n<p>The previous color picker in the rich text editor only provided a small subset of colors to assign to your text. If you wanted to apply a color that wasn\u2019t present in this list, you would have use HTML to assign the color to the respective text elements.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the static color picker provides you with the ability to select <em>any<\/em> color for your text, no HTML required. Simply highlight the text and use the color swatch and slider to select and assign a custom color, or, directly enter a hexadecimal code corresponding to a known color value. If you haven\u2019t already, I highly recommend pausing to read Lisa Berry\u2019s blog on the subject <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-online\/mapping\/bring-colors-from-your-map-into-your-pop-up-using-arcade\/\">here<\/a> before continuing.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, coloring your pop-up text with an arcade expression required you to open the HTML source view and insert the expression within the relevant style tag. Now, with the introduction of the data-driven color picker, there\u2019s no need to edit the raw HTML.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p>Let&#8217;s look at how it works with an example:<\/p>\n<h4>Example: Data-driven font color with Arcade<\/h4>\n<p>I have a web map with a layer showing the average concentration of particulate matter smaller than 2.5 micrometers (PM 2.5) in the air on a global scale from 1998-2016.<\/p>\n<p>In my pop-up, I want:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>countries with average PM 2.5 &lt; 10 to display pop-up text in green,<\/li>\n<li>countries with average PM 2.5 &gt; 10 to display in red,<\/li>\n<li>and countries with average PM 2.5 = 10 to display in orange<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To achieve this, first I have to author an arcade expression that will return a value recognized by HTML, like the example shown below:<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"sidebar","content":"","image_reference":false,"layout":"code_snippet","image_reference_figure":"","snippet":"var pmAvg = $feature.MEAN_VALUE \/\/ average PM 2.5 concentration \r\n\r\n\/\/ if pmAvg is less than 10\r\nif (pmAvg &lt; 10) { \r\n  return &#039;#009900&#039; \/\/ return green hex code\r\n}\r\n\/\/ if pmAvg is equal to 10\r\nif (pmAvg == 10) {\r\n  return &#039;#e68a00&#039; \/\/ return orange hex code\r\n}\r\n\/\/ if pmAvg is greater than 10 \r\nif (pmAvg &gt; 10) {\r\n  return &#039;#e63900&#039; \/\/ return red hex code\r\n}","spotlight_name":"","section_title":"","position":"Center","spotlight_image":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p>After the expression is authored, I can return to the text editor and highlight the text I want to color. Then, in the data-driven font color tab, I&#8217;ll select the expression and click Done.<\/p>\n<p>In the rich text editor, you can see that the selected text is now surrounded by a dashed border, indicating that the text color is being driven by the layer\u2019s data. If you open the source code of the pop-up, you can see that the expression reference has been automatically inserted into the pop-up&#8217;s HTML.<\/p>\n<p>Now, if I select a feature I can see that the pop-up text color will dynamically change depending on the average PM 2.5 concentration for the country.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2023\/10\/datadrivencolor_newiconGIF.gif\" alt=\"Using the data-driven font color picker to color pop-up text with an Arcade expression.\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Use the data-driven font color picker to apply conditional color to pop-up text depending on the feature&#8217;s average PM 2.5 concentration. Notice that the font color icon on the editor toolbar will change to indicate that the text is being colored with the data-driven color picker.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"sidebar","content":"<p><strong>Note:\u00a0<\/strong>Both attribute expressions and fields can be used for data-driven font color. <strong>However, you must ensure that your field or expression returns a value recognized by HTML. <\/strong>This could be a hexadecimal code (#FF0000), a well-known text color (red), or an RGB value: rgb(255, 0, 0).<\/p>\n","image_reference":false,"layout":"standard","image_reference_figure":"","snippet":"","spotlight_name":"","section_title":"","position":"Center","spotlight_image":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h2>Create and format tables<\/h2>\n<p>Prior to this update, creating a table in the pop-up required you to open the source view and author the table structure using the applicable HTML tags. Not only is this approach time-consuming, but it requires some familiarity with HTML. Now, Map Viewer can do that work for you with the insert table button!<\/p>\n<p>Select the insert table button from the toolbar and use the provided interface to specify the desired number of rows and columns for the table. Once the table dimensions are selected, it will be automatically added to the text editor.<\/p>\n<p>You can then type text directly into the table, or insert fields and expressions using the new fields list button on the toolbar.
