It also now includes a toggle to honor or ignore the selection, highlight, or filter<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/analysis\/geoprocessing\/basics\/extent-control.htm\"><strong>Processing Extent<\/strong> <strong>Controls<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 You can find the extent controls in tool parameters, tool environments, and project environment settings. The <strong>ArcGIS Pro 3.2 <\/strong>release includes an enhanced extent control with an updated interface and a few new features.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/analysis\/geoprocessing\/basics\/field-map.htm\"><strong>Field Map<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 This control is available in several geoprocessing tools, including Export Features, Spatial Join, Merge and more! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-pro\/analytics\/big-improvements-for-field-management-in-geoprocessing-in-arcgis-pro-3-2\/\"><strong>Check out this blog<\/strong><\/a> to for an in-depth review of the changes made to the <strong>field map<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1 style=\"margin-bottom: 12.0pt\"><strong>Selection and Filter Tip<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-pro\/analytics\/geoprocessing-selection-and-filter-tip-arcgis-pro-3-0\/\"><strong>ArcGIS Pro 3.0<\/strong><\/a> release introduced the <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/tool-reference\/appendices\/filtered-inputs-for-geoprocessing.htm\">Geoprocessing Selection and Filter Tip<\/a> that displays under layer and table view input parameters. This message informs you when an input has an active <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/mapping\/navigation\/select-features-interactively.htm\">selection<\/a> or filter (<a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/mapping\/layer-properties\/definition-query.htm\">definition query<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/mapping\/time\/set-the-time-properties-on-data.htm\">time filter<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/mapping\/range\/get-started-with-the-range-slider.htm\">range filter<\/a>) and how many records will be processed when you run a tool.<\/p>\n<p>You can use these options to work with a subset of the records within a dataset. Turning off a selection or filter from the tool dialog will <strong>not<\/strong> remove it from your layer. Instead, it will only affect how many records will be processed when you run the tool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> If a layer has a selection <em>and<\/em> filter, only the selection is described in the tip and used by the tool. Turning off the selection will result in <em>all<\/em> records being processed.<\/p>\n<h2>Support for highlighted records<\/h2>\n<p>In <strong>ArcGIS Pro 3.2<\/strong>, Geoprocessing tools support <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/data\/tables\/highlight-records-within-a-selection-set.htm\">highlighted records<\/a> in a selection, so you can identify and process further subsets of an already defined selection set. The <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/tool-reference\/environment-settings\/output-extent.htm\">extent control in Envrionment Settings<\/a> has 2 additional options that will determine the extent at tool run-time: <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Layer_Intersect16-1.png\" alt=\"intersect\" \/>\u00a0<strong>Intersection<\/strong> <strong>of<\/strong> <strong>Inputs<\/strong> and <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Layer_Union16-2-1.png\" alt=\"icon\" \/>\u00a0<strong>Union<\/strong> <strong>of<\/strong> <strong>Inputs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/LayerGeneric16-1.png\" alt=\"layer\" \/> <strong>Extent of a Layer<\/strong> drop-down includes all map layers, and a new, <strong>Extent of data in all layers <\/strong>option. You can use this option to get the combined extent from all active map layers, <em>excluding the basemap<\/em>. Use this option to remove some of the guesswork if you want to get an extent that represents multiple layers in your area of interest.<\/p>\n<p>The extent control now displays the <strong>Extent Coordinate System <\/strong>under the extent, so you will always know what <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/mapping\/properties\/specify-a-coordinate-system.htm\">coordinate system<\/a> the extent values are drawn from. Extent coordinates can look very different depending on the coordinate system being used. The extent control generally uses the same coordinate system as the active map, <em>except <\/em>when you <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/FolderOpenState16-2.png\" alt=\"folder\" \/>\u00a0<strong>Browse<\/strong> to an extent. If you <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/FolderOpenState16-2.png\" alt=\"folder\" \/> <strong>Browse<\/strong> to the extent of an existing dataset, the control will display the <strong>X and Y Extent<\/strong> in that dataset\u2019s coordinate system.<\/p>\n<p>Check out this video to see the new geoprocessing extent control in action:<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"kaltura","video_id":"1_756y9hua","time":false,"start":0},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"margin-bottom: 12.0pt\"><strong>Field Map<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The geoprocessing <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/analysis\/geoprocessing\/basics\/field-map.htm\"><strong>field map<\/strong><\/a> parameter is found in multiple tools and is used to transfer or match attributes from one dataset to another. You can also choose to list by field aliases, <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/GenericExport16-1-1.png\" alt=\"export\" \/>\u00a0<strong>Export<\/strong> the field map to save it as a string file, or\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Folder16-1.png\" alt=\"load\" \/>\u00a0<strong>Load<\/strong> an existing field map you\u2019ve already saved.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most notable differences from earlier versions of the <strong>field map<\/strong> is that field mapping or matching tasks now occur in a separate, <strong>Field Properties<\/strong> window.
