In Pro 3.4 we\u2019ve added a new section to the <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/data\/geodatabases\/overview\/create-modify-and-delete-attribute-rules.htm\">attribute rules<\/a> details pane called triggering fields. By making the rule only run when specific fields are edited you can dramatically reduce the number of times rules get run, save on the performance hit that may occur, and increase the overall efficiency of your editing workflows.<\/p>\n<p>Give it a shot, maybe even revise your existing rules to take advantage of it.<\/p>\n<p>You can find more details in Hussein&#8217;s post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-pro\/data-management\/attribute-rules-triggering-fields\/\">Attribute Rules Triggering Fields in ArcGIS Pro 3.4.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"AttributeRuleTemplates\">Attribute Rule Templates<\/h3>\n<p>In an effort to make attribute rules more accessible and also to facilitate creating some of the more common rules more quickly, we\u2019ve added three <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/data\/geodatabases\/overview\/template-attribute-rules.htm\">new rule templates<\/a>. Click OK and a new rule gets added to the Attribute Rules view complete with the associated Arcade script.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll have follow-on blogs for each of the three new rule templates and triggering fields as well. Keep an eye out for those if you want more details and examples.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"GenerateContingentValues\">Generate Contingent Values<\/h2>\n<p>This one is a major productivity improvement. We\u2019ve added a new button to the <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/data\/geodatabases\/overview\/contingent-values.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_73CB40AAFDA440C0844473CECE40345B\">Contingent Values<\/a> ribbon called Generate. As the name implies, this will take any field group you\u2019ve created and auto-generate all possible combinations of contingent values from existing data on the fields in that field group. You can also choose to instead generate the values from existing domains on the fields as well.<\/p>\n<p>All possible combinations of contingent values will get populated in the grid and then it\u2019s just a matter of reviewing them, deleting any that you don\u2019t want, and clicking save. This is much, much faster than manually inputting rows and rows of contingent value combinations.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"VersioningRibbonUpdates\">Versioning Ribbon Updates<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019ve updated the <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/help\/data\/geodatabases\/overview\/versioning-tab.htm\">Versioning tab<\/a> on the ribbon so that it is always available whenever there is a version-enabled dataset referenced in the map. You can view the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/3.4\/help\/data\/geodatabases\/overview\/access-and-manage-geodatabase-dataset-properties.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_B6E2DBB251FA4641A3C68F52A8735224\">Minimum Client Version<\/a>\u00a0of the software that is needed to access a dataset from its properties page. It can be found on the\u00a0Source\u00a0tab in the\u00a0Data Source\u00a0section.<\/li>\n<li>In the Catalog view and pane, you can now create a new database connection directly in a folder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On top of these additions there was a concerted effort to improve the general quality of the product, so we knocked out roughly 300 bugs during the release as well. Hopefully this won\u2019t go unnoticed, and your workflows are smoother and faster than before.
