Use the <strong>Hiking Time<\/strong> option to account for the adjustment in walking speed when the steepness of the ground changes. Use <strong>Bidirectional Hiking Time<\/strong> to find the average time to hike in one direction on an out-and-back hiking trail. This functionality is available in ArcGIS Pro, as REST APIs in ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes, and Map Viewer in ArcGIS Online.<\/p>\n<p>Do you ever perform distance analysis for a global extent? Several distance tools and raster functions can now calculate least cost paths around the entire world. The <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/tool-reference\/spatial-analyst\/distance-accumulation.htm\">Distance Accumulation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/tool-reference\/spatial-analyst\/distance-allocation.htm\">Distance Allocation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/tool-reference\/spatial-analyst\/optimal-path-as-line.htm\">Optimal Path as Line<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/latest\/tool-reference\/spatial-analyst\/optimal-path-as-raster.htm\">Optimal Path as Raster<\/a> tools no longer treat the edge of the map as a barrier. The conditions required to enable this capability is using the geodesic distance method and having the data in either a GCS or a cylindrical projection. This functionality is available in ArcGIS Pro, as REST APIs in ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes, and Map Viewer in ArcGIS Online.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\"><a style=\"color: #cc99ff;\" href=\"#whatsnew\">Return to main menu<\/a><\/span><\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"Hydrology\">Hydrology analysis<\/h3>\n<p>If you study water, ArcGIS Pro has some significant performance improvements for the following tools: <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/3.4\/tool-reference\/spatial-analyst\/basin.htm\">Basin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/3.4\/tool-reference\/spatial-analyst\/flow-length.htm\">Flow Length<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/3.4\/tool-reference\/spatial-analyst\/snap-pour-point.htm\">Snap Pour Point<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/3.4\/tool-reference\/spatial-analyst\/stream-order.htm\">Stream Order<\/a> tools.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a Map Viewer user in ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes, or in ArcGIS Online, you can now complete your hydrological workflow with the availability of all Spatial Analyst Hydrology tools.
