Local data in Pro is different from local data packs in Enterprise! The data is \u201clocal\u201d in that it\u2019s stored locally on your machine or other network drive location. Business Analyst local datasets are available for the United States, Canada, India, and Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have purchased local data, it incurs no further costs to use it. You can continue to use it <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW162756567 BCX0\">as long as<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW162756567 BCX0\"> you have an active Business Analyst license and are using it within the product it was licensed for. <\/span>This is different from using online data, because online data\u2014as the name implies\u2014is accessed through the internet and consumes credits each time you use it.<\/p>\n<p>When using Business Analyst Pro, you have the option to connect to either a local or online data source, as shown in the figures below. The cloud icon appears when you are connected to an online data source, whereas a local connection shows a computer and monitor icon. It also includes the files you need to create drive times, walk times, and threshold areas, as well as report templates and infographics so you can create custom information products.<\/p>\n<p>Generally speaking, local data contains, but is not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The data itself (in the Data folder)<\/li>\n<li>Product documentation (in the Documentation folder)<\/li>\n<li>Report and infographic template files (stored in the Information Products folder)<\/li>\n<li>Setup and configuration files (in the Configuration folder)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"using-local-data\">What can you do with local data?<\/h2>\n<p>All Business Analyst Pro workflows can be performed using local data. Here&#8217;s a brief comparison:<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th><b>Advantages<\/b><\/th>\n<th><b>Limitations<\/b><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li>No credit consumption.<\/li>\n<li>Faster performance, especially for complex analysis and large batch operations (think: running an infographic for hundreds of locations).<\/li>\n<li>Multiple people in your organization can use it.<\/li>\n<li>You own it and will always have access to this vintage of Esri data.<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li>The local datasets are large (roughly <strong>148<\/strong> GB for the U.S. and <strong>40<\/strong> GB for Canada). This corresponds with the main online data release\u2014the local data is essentially a hard-copy \u201csnapshot\u201d of the online data update.
