This latest release includes updates to the Find co-traveler tool, the ability to write polygon and linestrings in vector tiles, expanded Scala API support, and improved performance for spatial joins and plotting. \u00a0These improvements make it easier and faster to bring Esri\u2019s industry-leading geospatial analytics capabilities directly to your big data \u2013 in a data lake, data warehouse, or ArcGIS.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at the new features.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p><strong><em>Enable Tool Functionality with Scala API<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Engine 1.6 release includes the addition of a\u00a0Scala API\u00a0for all\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/tools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tools<\/a>\u00a0in GeoAnalytics Engine. Users can now drive analysis tools using either Python or Scala syntax while utilizing the same underlying implementation. This complements the existing Scala API for <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SQL<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/trk-functions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">track (TRK)<\/a> functions.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p><strong><em>Efficiently Identify Location with New SQL and Track Functions<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 1.6 release introduces two new SQL functions: <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_line_interpolate_point\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ST_LineInterpolatePoint<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_line_locate_point\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ST_LineLocatePoint<\/a>.\u00a0 These functions improve user ability to identify locations at fractional distances along linestrings. For instance, these functions can be used to identify the point that is 20% of the way along a linestring.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, SQL and Track (TRK) functions have been enhanced to make it easier to specify distance or duration parameters using <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_create_distance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ST_CreateDistance<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/geoanalytics\/sql-functions\/st_create_duration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ST_CreateDuration<\/a> functions. This tool allows us to customize the distance and units for each row of data. For example, we can set unique distance requirements to define the \u201carea of interest\u201d based on location or attribute. This is useful for uncovering relationships between individuals or groups. This allows for hosting and fast visualization of spatial data, no matter the geometry type.
