For others, metadata might not be the first thing they get excited about, even though it is becoming more essential than ever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Metadata is the key to unlocking the full potential of your geospatial content. It improves searchability, supports data governance, and ensures your data can be reused effectively. By adding metadata to your layer, map, or app, that information travels with your content wherever it goes. Investing an hour to improve your item\u2019s metadata can save every user an hour of searching. For example, if 10,000 people use your layer, that\u2019s thousands of hours saved.<\/p>\n In platforms like ArcGIS Online<\/a>, Enterprise<\/a>, and Hub<\/a>, where millions of spatial items are shared across organizations and the public, metadata helps the right people find the right content at the right time.
