Each October, developers from around the world come together to contribute to open source, and we are excited to once again invite the developer community to get involved.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are contributing for the first time or returning after last year, Hacktoberfest is a great way to learn, share, and collaborate.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"why-esri-participates\">Why Esri participates<\/h2>\n<p>At Esri, we believe that open source empowers developers. Projects like <strong>Esri Leaflet<\/strong>, <strong>Calcite Design System<\/strong>, and <strong>ArcGIS REST JS<\/strong> are built with contributions from both our team and the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>In the past two years, amazing contributions have ranged from bug fixes to documentation improvements. You can read more about those successes in our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/developers\/developers\/hacktoberfest-2024-celebrating-our-contributors\">Hacktoberfest 2024 recap<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/developers\/developers\/hacktoberfest-2023-its-a-wrap\"> Hacktoberfest 2023 wrap-up<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hacktoberfest gives us a chance to connect with the community, work on meaningful improvements, and support each other through shared solutions and ideas.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-join\">How to Join<\/h2>\n<p>Participating in Hacktoberfest is simple:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit the<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Esri\"> Esri GitHub organization<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Browse the repositories tagged for Hacktoberfest.<\/li>\n<li>Look for issues labeled <strong>good first issue<\/strong> or <strong>help wanted<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Submit your pull requests between October 1 and October 31.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each project has its own contributing guidelines, so give those a quick read before you open a pull request.
