A billion is a high number, but before the Anthropocene era, the numbers were much higher, numbering many billions.<\/p>\n<p>This decline in both the numbers and habitats for thousands of species across the country is one reason why it is important to accurately map the areas needed for conservation and to incorporate that data into spatial planning. For migratory birds, it could be a series of watering holes along the known migratory paths. To make displaying and analyzing this data even easier, PADUS 2.0 is available in <a href=\"http:\/\/arcgis.com\/home\/group.html?id=e1832888324f42e08f2a1f08e6904ad1&amp;view=list&amp;start=1&amp;num=20#content\">multiple formats within Living Atlas<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vector tiles: for fast rendering in web maps and applications where analysis is not required<\/li>\n<li>Feature services: provides attributes for the 30 fields associated with each protected area. Using <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/manage-data\/create-hosted-views.htm\">feature layer views<\/a> and web maps, there are unique, pre-configured displays of these maps from many of the fields.<\/li>\n<li>Image services: provides single attribute raster versions of the database for running large-scale summary statistics, raster functions, and habitat modeling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h3>Exploring PAD-US<\/h3>\n<p>Take a look at <a href=\"https:\/\/arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=e430be119ee44e39a18cd1995ac5b261\">this map<\/a> to see what lands are protected in southeastern Oregon near the town of Lakeview \u2013 a common migratory habitat.
