This update includes new features and capabilities for authoring web maps, app templates, managing and administering organizations, and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Map viewer enhancements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Data-driven &#8220;smart mapping&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\nThe map viewer now includes data-driven workflows that enable you to author visually appealing web maps easily. When feature layers are added, the data is analyzed and appropriate layer styling options are presented in a streamlined user experience. Capabilities include creating <strong>heat maps<\/strong>, <strong>continuous color ramps<\/strong>, using <strong>size<\/strong> and <strong>transparency<\/strong>, and <strong>graduated symbols<\/strong>. See <a title=\"View help topic\" href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/change-style.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Change style<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46413\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/02\/feb-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"579\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Other map viewer enhancements include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Image layers with vector fields can now display the <strong>magnitude <\/strong>and<strong> direction<\/strong> of variables as vectors using a new <a title=\"View help topic\" href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/display-imagery.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_86F483C37D0446CBA9FB8700AED84722\" target=\"_blank\">multidimensional filter<\/a>. The symbol style can also be changed.<\/li>\n<li>Route <a title=\"View help topic\" href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/use-maps\/get-directions.htm\" target=\"_blank\">directions<\/a> are now supported for up to <strong>50 stops<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>A new <strong>points of interest<\/strong> symbol set has been added, and the shapes symbol set becomes the default. The A to Z symbol set now includes AA to ZZ.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Scene Viewer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"View help topic\" href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/use-maps\/view-scenes.htm\" target=\"_blank\">scene viewer<\/a> is one of the built-in ArcGIS Online apps, complementing the map viewer by enabling you to author, view, and share 3D scenes. The scene viewer (introduced in <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/reference\/whats-new.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_72656EE7F96B4030BF9D89058D567B83\" target=\"_blank\">December 2014<\/a>) is no longer in beta and is officially released. New features and capabilities have also been added.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46421\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/02\/feb-31.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"260\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Esri featured web scenes<\/strong> showcase 3D views from around the world. Using featured web scenes you can import multiple scenes into your own scene and make changes. See <a title=\"View help topic\" href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/add-layers-to-scene.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_8FC6CAC878CB41CD8F4B21F978D57135\" target=\"_blank\">Add Esri featured web scenes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-46422 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/02\/feb-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"394\" height=\"131\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With this release you can also\u00a0<strong>modify and save<\/strong> copies of scenes that you do not own, can create l<strong>egends<\/strong> for your scenes, and can adjust<strong> layer transparency.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Story Maps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Story maps<\/a> combine interactive maps and multimedia content into elegant user experiences, making it easy to use maps to tell stories. View examples at the <a href=\"http:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/en\/gallery\/#s=0\" target=\"_blank\">Story Maps Gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Story Map Series released<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/en\/app-list\/map-series\/\" target=\"_blank\">Story Map Series<\/a>\u00a0is no longer in beta, and is officially released. Story Map Series offers several different layout options\u00a0\u2014 tabbed, side accordion, and bulleted\u00a0\u2014 making it ideal for presenting multiple maps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/en\/app-list\/map-series\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46468\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/02\/feb-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"122\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Web accessibility<\/strong><br \/>\nStory Map Journal, Story Map Tour, and Story Map Series have improved accessibility features, including optimization for screen readers and for keyboard navigation. The Tab key becomes the primary method for keyboard navigation, in compliance with U.S. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.access-board.gov\/guidelines-and-standards\/communications-and-it\/about-the-section-508-standards\" target=\"_blank\">Section 508<\/a> accessibility standards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Story Map Series<\/strong> has also been added to the Configurable Apps gallery, see details below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>App Templates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>App templates offer an easy way to create custom-configured applications, with no programming required. Author a web map, choose a template from the gallery, then publish, configure, and save.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Configurable Apps <\/strong>gallery includes the following new templates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=32f733be56ce48b5993932715e1070ee\" target=\"_blank\">Story Map Series<\/a><\/strong> enables you to present multiple maps using several layout options; tabbed, side accordion, and bulleted. Story Map Series includes a builder app to make authoring easy. See <a title=\"View web page\" href=\"http:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/en\/app-list\/\" target=\"_blank\">Story Maps apps<\/a> for more information.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/links.esri.com\/agol-help-compare-analysis\" target=\"_blank\">Compare Analysis<\/a><\/strong> allows you to compare up to four maps at once.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/links.esri.com\/agol-help-map-tools\" target=\"_blank\">Map Tools<\/a><\/strong> allows you to display a map with a specified set of commonly used tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/group.html?owner=esri_en&amp;title=Early%20Adopter%20Templates\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Early Adopter Templates<\/strong><\/a> group adds the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/links.esri.com\/agol-help-crowdsource-reporter\" target=\"_blank\">Crowdsource Reporter<\/a><\/strong> is a responsive gallery app template that allows users to submit observations or feedback. Users can submit new reports, review existing reports, and comment and vote on those submitted by other users.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/links.esri.com\/agol-help-crowdsource-manager\" target=\"_blank\">Crowdsource Manager<\/a><\/strong> complements Crowdsource Reporter enabling users to review, update, and manage submitted observations and feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Enhanced templates<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/links.esri.com\/agol-help-edit\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Edit<\/strong><\/a> has been redesigned for better support on devices. It can now be configured to include a basemap toggle widget which allows users to switch to an alternate basemap. It can also be configured to continuously track a user&#8217;s location with the press of a button.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=5c1c790f4f854e7089394ed61396d7da\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Elevation Profile<\/strong><\/a> can now be configured to use a custom elevation profile service.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Edit<\/strong>, <strong>Map Tools<\/strong>, <strong>Elevation Profile<\/strong>, <strong>Filter<\/strong>, <strong>Legend<\/strong>, <strong>Simple Map Viewer<\/strong>, and <strong>Basic Viewer<\/strong>\u00a0now allow users to choose from available geocoders or searchable layers within the map when entering a search string.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Retired templates<\/strong><br \/>\nSeveral app templates have been retired, though existing applications using hosted retired templates will continue to function.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-46430\" style=\"font-size: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/02\/feb-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"405\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esri.com\/software\/web-appbuilder\" target=\"_blank\">Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS<\/a> enables you to build responsive, cross-device applications without needing to write any code.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/web-appbuilder\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-46434 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/02\/feb-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"431\" height=\"308\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Web AppBuilder includes the following new features and capabilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support for <strong>related records<\/strong> in pop-ups, attribute tables, and query results.<\/li>\n<li>Support for <strong>feature search<\/strong> based on search settings in the map.<\/li>\n<li>Support for <strong>customizing map scales<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>URL parameters<\/strong> can now be used to modify the app.<\/li>\n<li>New <strong>Analysis<\/strong>, <strong>Time Slider<\/strong>, and <strong>Swipe<\/strong> widgets.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Layer list<\/strong> now displays table, raster, and image layers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 24px;font-size: 16px\">See <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/web-appbuilder\/\" target=\"_blank\">Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS<\/a> for more information.<\/span><\/p>\n<div><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;line-height: 24px\">ArcGIS Open Data<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>New community functionality is available at <a title=\"Go to website\" href=\"http:\/\/opendata.arcgis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">opendata.arcgis.com<\/a>. For more information see <a title=\"View help topic\" href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/open-data\/\" target=\"_blank\">What is ArcGIS Open Data<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Esri Maps for Salesforce<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new integration with Salesforce1 mobile app that enables Salesforce users to find customers near their location, check in at a customer\u2019s site, post to chatter, and enrich Salesforce data with demographic information.\u00a0Both mobile and web integrations are included with your ArcGIS Online subscription.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.esri.com\/software\/location-analytics\/esri-maps-for-salesforce\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-46447 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/02\/feb-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The web integration helps Salesforce users create workflows to geocode any Salesforce objects, map and perform spatial analysis on Salesforce data, and share maps and data to ArcGIS.\u00a0See <a href=\"http:\/\/location-analytics.arcgis.com\/en\/maps-for-salesforce\/\" target=\"_blank\">Esri Maps for Salesforce<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Esri Maps for Office<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The upcoming release of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esri.com\/software\/maps-for-office\" target=\"_blank\">Esri Maps for Office<\/a> will include the following enhancements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A new, more <strong>visual workflow<\/strong> for adding data helps you understand what type of map you are going to create and how many credits it will consume before you create the map.<\/li>\n<li>New <strong>floating maps<\/strong> allow you to drag maps outside the Excel window and scroll through your Excel data while keeping maps visible.<\/li>\n<li>Support for all of the coordinate systems supported by the ArcGIS API for Javascript.<\/li>\n<li>Support for <strong>linear feature services<\/strong> as custom location types.<\/li>\n<li>Support for adding <strong>multiple maps<\/strong> and displaying them side by side to compare data from multiple worksheets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/maps-for-office\/\" target=\"_blank\">Esri Maps for Office<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Use the browser app to open publicly available operation views without signing in. For the latest information see\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/docdev.arcgis.com\/en\/operations-dashboard\/\" target=\"_blank\">Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Organization administration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Data curator role<\/strong><br \/>\nCustom roles adds a new privilege to facilitate data curation. The privilege allows data curators in your organization to add, delete, and update features in editable hosted feature layers, regardless of the editing options enabled for the layer. For example, curators can manage citizen feedback in an app without needing ownership access to the underlying feature layers.<\/p>\n<p>A new <strong>data curator role template<\/strong> is available that encompasses the basic privileges needed for preparing and processing data within your organization. It includes the new privilege to edit with full control. Use the template as it has been configured or further customize it by adding and removing the privileges that fit the needs of your organization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enhanced item usage reports<\/strong><br \/>\nItem details now includes usage over a selected time period and is available to anyone who has access to the item.<\/p>\n<p>For Administrators, additional details are available in the subscription status page about the items in your organization. You can access usage details for any item over a selected time period and access the item details from the usage reports. You can also see an ordered list of the tags used in all of the items returned in the current report, the most frequently viewed items in the organization over the past two weeks, the ten most viewed items in the organization since the day the organization was created, and a summary count of the total number of items in the organization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Configurable password policy<\/strong><br \/>\nOrganizations can now configure the password policy for members with ArcGIS accounts. Administrators can define password length, complexity, and history requirements that meet the security strategies of the organization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other administration enhancements<\/strong><br \/>\nThe subscription status page includes location-allocation reports. Organizations can now configure their own route service for getting directions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Content<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>World Elevation<\/strong> now includes 30-meter data for several regions in North America, South America, and Western Europe.<\/li>\n<li>Updated <strong>elevation data has been added<\/strong> for Africa, and Netherlands has additional community elevation data.<\/li>\n<li>New <strong>detailed demographic data<\/strong> has been added for Spain, Germany, and Australia that can be used for mapping and data enrichment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Miscellaneous<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When <strong>exporting hosted feature layers<\/strong> to feature collections, you can now generalize features for web display.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Greek is available as a language<\/strong>. Language determines the user interface as well as the way time, date, and numerical values appear.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Panama is available as a region<\/strong>.
