The <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/tag\/site-of-the-week\/\">Site of the Week<\/a><em>\u00a0is a series that profiles one ArcGIS Open Data site each week.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u2014<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/geology.ags-aer.opendata.arcgis.com\/\"><strong>Site of the Week: Alberta Geological Survey, Canada<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This time we head to the province of Alberta, Canada. The Alberta Geological Survey is using ArcGIS Open Data to share GIS data about the geology of Alberta. They are using the ArcGIS Open Data site to augment their long time open data repository at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ags.gov.ab.ca\/\">www.ags.gov.ab.ca<\/a>, where they have more than 1,000 datasets available in .zip archives.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Alberta-Open-Data-Catalogue1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-54806 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Alberta-Open-Data-Catalogue1-1024x601.png\" alt=\"Alberta Open Data Catalogue home page\" width=\"640\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Supporting ArcGIS Online Activities<\/strong><br \/>\nAlberta Geological Survey recently released the <a href=\"http:\/\/ags-aer.maps.arcgis.com\/apps\/webappviewer\/index.html?id=cfb4ed4a8d7d43a9a5ff766fb8d0aee5\">Alberta Interactive Minerals Map<\/a> (AIMM) web mapping application, which is a joint project between Alberta Geological Survey and Alberta Energy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Alberta-Interactive-Minerals-Map-Popup.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54808 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Alberta-Interactive-Minerals-Map-Popup.png\" alt=\"Alberta Interactive Minerals Map with Open Data Link in Popup\" width=\"640\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The AIMM web mapping application provides the government of Alberta, general public, and industry with an interactive tool for exploring, discovering and downloading mineral data. All features on the map have a pop-up window, which includes a link to the corresponding dataset on ArcGIS Open Data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArcGIS Open Data is an excellent opportunity to provide the public with interactive options for querying and downloading our open data,\u201d says Rastislav Elgr, GIS Specialist for the Alberta Geological Survey. \u201cThe public can query and view the spatial distribution of the mineral samples prior to downloading the datasets in a variety of available formats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is only the beginning. The Alberta Geological Survey is exploring opportunities to include their most frequently requested datasets on the ArcGIS Open Data site.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned for our next ArcGIS Open Data Site of the Week.
